Not looking great at all :(
We're still working on a fix to resolve the slow speeds affecting some clients.

Its been like this more or less since July... when my line was still with you, AH support claimed exchange congestion and Telkom line fault... I am still waiting for this fix for month's already.

/sigh

Do you have a ref# that I can look at?

I'm also getting ridiculously low speeds. 2 meg on my 10 meg line. Also for some reason Speedtest thinks I'm in Gauteng when I'm in Cape Town...

Soooo 4:28pm and still nothing? Shame Afrihost, very disappointed and tired of your excuses the whole day and service.
There has been NO updates other than "We're working hard to normalise speeds. Shouldn't be much longer now." Which was almost 4 hours ago!
I'm stating the obvious here but my Webafrica account is doing much better and could possibly be my next signup.
And I know AfriGuy will reply to me with "We're sorry to see you go...". Well, (if you are) then do something about it!! This has been going on for at least 24hours now. FFS!!!

You may be affected by the slow speeds we're currently seeing, although weird that speedtest is picking up your location incorrectly. Do you have a traceroute I can check?

Afri(rep)s....

Serious question here...

I am not a shyter or a scam artist. Can I receive the double-your money back guarantee twice? On a different product of course.

Sometime ago, I successfully claimed it when the 12.5% / 6.25% daytime shaping speeds first appeared on the home uncapped service, and everyone became rather upset. As I recall, everyone was shouting capacity issues, which was denied for weeks by yourselves, it later turned out to be capacity issues. I was within the 1st 60 days of subscription and Afrihost were more than willing to live up to their promise, which was appreciated greatly.

Now, a week into a 400GB capped account, I have yet to see speeds consistent with what was promised when I signed up. As is evidenced by my experience, and the experience of many others above, and by your own admission, the service is not performing to standards. I'm not happy. I want to cancel and I want my money back.

Therefore, am I still eligible to claim the double-money back guarantee (again)?

Hi bumbledore

It'll be reviewed on a case by case basis by our team once the claim is made.
Sorry to hear about the slow speeds, before going ahead with the cancellation we can always troubleshoot things with you - if you're prefer?

Very odd, looks like you're being routed via JHB for some reason - but also seeing high latency on the early hops :(
Are you using our DNS servers?

Yeah I noticed the weird pings.

No, I generally just use default DNS servers.

My FNBConnect account is doing the exact same thing, and I'm also having an issue with my CrystalWeb account which won't authenticate.

I'm guessing these are somehow all related. I'll see if I can find out what's going on.

Hhhmm, if the issue is spread across different providers there may be a mis-config on your exchange which is doing weird things to the routing. Saw this earlier this week actually, Telkom had to make adjustments :(

Ok, thanks.

Not really prepared to do troubleshooting currently as I know my line's not the problem. I'm in the south, so it's the same problem that's affecting everyone else, I guess.

Will give it a few more days of course, but I need more than 2mbps on a 10mbps capped service.

So clearly there are still IPC issues in the South leading to the severe slowdowns in the evenings, and the IOS8 updates are only further exasperating the issue. The question is if a rectification of the root cause is happening (an upgrade of capacity) or not, as I haven't heard it mentioned. I'm sure your network guys are good at their jobs, but solving a dire lack of capacity through shaping controls seems a little optimistic. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

On a completely unrelated note - AfriGuy - is there a preferred SA Ubuntu repository mirror for use with AH? I've tried the saix mirror and a couple of others, but downloads always seem to run between 400-600k/sec, which isn't terrible, but kind of defeats the purpose of a 20mbps line.
