Had to change to a backup account to watch Youtube. Youtube! Which is served from local content farms. Something is seriously wrong somewhere.

Here... notice the dates of the following;

Yup... exactly the same for me... although I have moved onto AH 100GB Capped from Business, my experience since last week...

International is just borked borked borked!

There could be an issue on the core network that we are busy investigating. I don't have more information on the issue or how it might present in terms of performance, but we'll keep looking into this.

Generally throughput to the UK should be excellent, so this is definitely not consistent with what I've seen in tests. I'll run some more tests from my home line this evening to confirm as well :(

The problem is with AH, like I said - when I experience this speed decrease it only happen with international. I can do a local speed test to Rosebank and get full speed without switching accounts or rebooting the router. It almost seems like shaping on international. I am still waiting on critical care regarding this issue. They said they will investigate - still haven't heard anything

iOS updates my shiny metal arse.

I think ah are trying to scare the more demanding users off their network.

This is really disappointing. It's so slow this morning that speedtest wont even load. Nice one Afrihost. Tell me, what's the point of having a capped account if you're going to pull this on us?

I had a terrible time with you guys during August, and now September is ****ed too. Methinks I must stop acting like a battered wife and just look for a new ISP.

What's funny though, is if you read this thread you'll notice how Afri Man/Guy promised us yesterday afternoon that everything would be alright because demand will die down or whatever. Right...I'm still waiting.

Perhaps... maybe... but then I am doing under 200GBs a month on an up to 10Mbs line on the Afrihost 200GB capped account... would they consider this demanding enough to throttle just me?

I suspect that they have borked regional network "profiles", constrained by IPC capacity and oversubscribed contention bottlenecks exacerbated by their constant "demand will pass" approach to this recurring issue which translates to them not really having to spend any more than they think they need to. They probably have a "user barometer" and their "projected userbase outrage" threshhold for crap throughput has not reached their "bean-counter line" where they then justify actually doing something about it - other than "waiting for demand to ease".

EDIT:

That is why no-one at Afrihost can actually do anything about this, and that is why support get users to tail-chase tracerts and test after test after test, no-one can actually do anything but wait for demand to ease.

This.

I suspect the problems will get progressively worse next week as people try and use their cap. That should be fun.

I will be moving on at the end of the month. The official feedback on the cause and the plans to resolve are too reminiscent of openweb for me.

Will definitely consider Afrihost again, once the capacity issues are resolved.

Indeed... will need to burn through;

in 10 days. Use it or lose it.

/m.e.h.

Sorry to say, if they can't give us full speed that allows us to use the cap we paid for then they need to allocate additional bandwidth the following month to compensate for issues on THEIR side and not ours. No offence but if we hit our limit we need to purchase additional bandwidth.

Afrihost is blaming iOS8 downloads for their poor service delivery!! Bull***** iOS8's adoption rate the first 24 hours was 50% less than iOS7 last year! In actual fact even less than iOS6!!!!!

Oh but don't worry, AfriGuy/Man will apologise for this on Monday when they finally get back from their weekend. Then they'll sprinkle some faery dust on the servers again and everything will be alright.

</sarcasm>

Haven't updated any of my devices to iOS8 as well, don't see the point really. Rather wait till most apps are compatible and a jailbreak is available.

What would be the point of that on capped where you pay for what you use?

Peak demand management. It's not number of GB per month. It's peak megabits per second on the IPC.

2 B/s on newsgroup downloads

and can't stream low def rugby - thank you Afrihost!

EDIT
2492086 hours remaining.... whats that? 284 years? 6.03GB .... I don't think I'll live that long.

I guess at least the Apple users are happy.
