Since when does an over contended network = shaping of capped accounts? It's quite simple to understand....WRT that shaping test - do the test after the IPC upgrades.

I'm very confident that services will perform as expected after the upgrades once contention is under control.

Yes, we've placed the order with Telkom and they now need to come in and install the additional capacity.

I think Afrihost need to proactive and not reactive with capacity.
Also stop paying your staff in bananas and maybe you will not get Monkeys..

Let me know if there's specific info you can check? On other ISP accounts I connect flawlessly...

We're not shaping capped accounts, and our shaping system in any event only acts on non-realtime traffic, so it's definitely not a question of shaping.

Which games are you having problems playing?

I take your point here, but I think it's a little bit unfair to make those kind of comments. I think we can afford to give each other a little human dignity. Our team are doing their job as best they can. We all make mistakes, but we're all people with families to go home to. I'm sure you feel the same way in your job.

I think if you can provide any information, traceroutes to the site, any screenshots of the errors you're seeing and any further info on your general throughput and latency (Network Test App and speedtest) this could really help.

Ok cool.. So by March next year it should be running properly again. Yippy!

I really don't expect we'll have to wait anything near to that long. I've been told a few weeks at maximum, but when I have a rough date I'll update you guys.

+1 - there is no need to get personal here.. I think the Afriteam (social) do a great job under what must be trying and stressful conditions. I assume they also look after Facebook/Twitter and Hellopeter so it can't be fun at the moment.

@AfriMan please stop dancing around the issue here and admit that the capped packages are being shaped as you have clearly stated.

Am I correct in saying that we were in exactly the same position earlier this year?

Very true. Around this time we did have a similar issue. That was also around the time that Telkom began upgrading 1Mbps lines to 2Mbps and so forth, and we saw a progressive increase in demand as we neared the end of the year. But in that case the iOS release also seemed to be a precursor to a sustained increase in demand.

We don't shape capped, and what I have said is that testing for shaping is very unreliable when there is contention. You may experience intermittent services performing poorly when demand is at peak.

Funny that one of the online chat assistants said you guys are in certain ways managing the capped accounts?

I've seen a few reports of ticket responses and conversations where this is being mentioned. It's definitely not the case and I apologise if you are receiving incorrect information :(

I am convinced that Afrihost are copying the Eskom model, LOAD SHEDDING.
Demand Outstrips Capacity
One day my account runs like a demon the next day its dead in the water!!!!!
