Unfortunately I cannot take that risk. We can't be expected to carry on like this. I was all for waiting the last time we had this issue and it is still fresh in my mind now we are having it again.

They will probably wait till after the 25th then say the upgrades have been delayed. Unfortunately unless we get a solid date and its this week then I'm out as well this month. Don't feel like another month of slow speed while paying full price. Give us a discount this month or something

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...

We don't expect the upgrades to be delayed, I know during the previous period there was a shortage of IPC that many ISP's had complained about. We've been assured via MTN that Telkom will deliver very soon, and as Greg Payne mentioned we're hopeful that it may be in the next ten days if everything goes well. When I have absolute confirmation of a date, I will definitely share that, but I am confident that we'll get upgrades within this month unless something goes horribly wrong :(

Heavy shaping atm. NNTP I was seeing like 6KB/s and just tried a torrent now, am currently getting 0.7KB/s.

Lets hope this is only a very temporary solution until those upgrades get done :/

We're seeing the morning peak now with Business and users going online for morning traffic. With that demand, it's hard to say which services will perform better than others.

With the upgrades in place, we should see performance improve across the board. Where we don't we can investigate further under better conditions.

Are you speaking about torrents or downloads here or general line throughput?

I asked AfriGuy if Afrihost's news server is limited to 10Mbps because i can't get more than 1.2MB/s. When I switch to WA news server on WA account the same NZB goes 3MB/s +.

Hi Afriman

You are seeing the morning peak with business traffic now but what about at 5am this morning when my NNTP was clearly shaped?

I got full speed on a normal download but then NNTP was running at around 5%

5am. Isn't that supposed to be the quiet time or something?

Stupid question... Would Axxess accounts be working any better right now?

Probably not right?

We know that because we offer month to month services, a client has the power to cancel and move away at any time, so we can never sit back and forget about our clients.

But you do forget about clients, I got tired of calling, sending mails, logging faults and following up. I wonder how many have given up and left without making a fuss after giving ample time for AH to remedy things, not just the last few weeks issues.

As far as I know it isn't, but I've never tested the WA news server either. It's more likely that due to demand you're not getting max line speed on the network on our server/connection.

5am should usually be pretty quiet on the network so I would expect better speeds, but it depends if there was heavy traffic. Were you using our server or an overseas server?

Anything funky on the network?

Remoted into my pc to restart my router, and my speeds are still really really pathetic.

NNTP maxing out at 21KB/s.
Remote desktop is even slower.

I believe that many of our clients are getting information through our support centre or social media channels and we're very grateful to them for being patient and giving us their faith and trust while we work this out. I think the majority do feel that while we might be experiencing some technical issues, they always have a better overall experience with us and are willing to go on some faith. And we definitely appreciate them for that :)

Was an overseas server. Only use AH as a backup now as the speeds aren't great

Well I'm doing my part by switching off my Afrihost account. An extra 40KB/s for the pool of disgruntled Afrihost users in the South Region. :p

Sorry to hear that you're not using your account. I'm sure that performance will continue to improve and when the capacity goes live it will be back to what we expect.
