Morning Everyone

You may have seen that we have not put up a notice regarding reports of slow speeds coming in from clients, mostly becuase we've had so many reports here on MyBB. Our management are pushing our technical team to find out what could be behind this, as it's unusual to see such poor performance right after having upgraded our IPCs.

Some changes were made yesterday, and we did see some improvement, but we're going to keep working at this until we start seeing the kind of performance we expect.

I'll keep you guys updated as best I can as I get more info on this.

Improvements? What improvements?! This is day 3 and I'm getting 0.2mb/s on my 40mb line. How am I supposed to run my business on this? There haven't been any improvements..

We had 6 weeks of this before the IPC got upgraded, and then 2 weeks later and it's back again!

You've been working on it since the launch of IOS8......

Thats nothing, Android 5 Lollipop is due for release today and I bet there are a lot more Android Devices on this network than there are Ios. I think only the Nexus Devices will be done today, but when samsung and HTC follow it will make the load for Ios look like a test run.

Oh man, this is crazy bad. Even worse than when all those IOS updates came through. I can barely get pages to load.

Here's my opinion on the matter (open for discussion)
So AH did not have enough space in the IPC therefore the network was over crowded and brought upon slow speeds and shaping, they bought additional bandwith and it was running smoothly. They obviously had more than enough bandwith now and decided to run a competition to use the additional bandwith instead of letting it go to waste. They started their latest competition in which one must be the first person to redeem a code with the prize being DSL GB ranging from 10-250GB(open to AH customers and non-AH customers). This has obviously placed the network, once again, under high demand and not enough bandwith.

I can assure you, the Capped accounts that we gave away have barely been used at all at this point, and have contributed an almost insignificant amount of bandwidth to our current network.

The current slow speeds are definitely not related to these giveaways, we are investigating the cause of the issue, and we are giving this our highest priority. I am sure you will start seeing improvements in your speeds soon.

Although there quite a few more Android users than iOS users on our network, the fragmented nature of the manufacturers and the delays in update approval from ICASA means that we should definitely not see the same happen with Lollipop.

I know it does feel like things have been bad since the iOS updates, but I believe this is only a temporary setback and that we will get things back to normal soon.

Thanks for this.

I think that must be the first time ever that South African Internet users have been pleased to hear of ICASA inefficiency :)

Giveaways! What giveaways? First I am hearing of this. Surely these are not for a selective group. After all, we are all suffering!!!

We are running a number of competitions on our Twitter and Facebook feeds, these include Mastercard vouchers, Capped Account giveways and even some fancy gadgets!

Here is link to our full competition page:

This is getting out of hand I dont mind if the connection is slightly slower on the odd occasion but less than 1MB instead of 16MB is just crazy! It has been like this since yesterday afternoon.

Can't get page to load. Internet too slow. It's a smart way to get people who make use of other ISPs to enter your competitions though. :p

Your speeds should not have dropped that badly, from which region are you currently connecting?

I have been a loyal AH client for MANY years and as I don't like Twitter or Facebook I am excluded? WTF!! Surely this should be available to all AH clients FIRST and should be announced on Client Zone (that you are sooo proud of). Better still in a newsletter. BTW what has happened to the regular newsletters we were promised. The last one I received was to crow about AH being voted ISP of the year. Also who decides on the pool of voters because nobody contacted me to vote.

Not sure why you're not clued up on this, but many people in JHB are getting 0.2mp/s throughput at the moment. The last 3 pages of posts are indicating exactly that on this thread. On my 10mb/s line I'm currently only getting 0.3 mb/s. The situation currently is way worse than it was before the upgrades.

Do any of our posts even register?
