Promo doesn't apply to bundles that's why

Did you read the article today?

Nope, no time for the forum today.

Does the article explain why? I'd move to Afrihost if the bundles had the double data...

Current
MWEB uncapped = 70Gb data 2Mbps line R199+R165= R364

Afrihost capped = 50Gb+50Gb data 2Mbps line
R199+R165= R364

Good and might have me considering a move but....

Afrihost capped bundle = 50Gb data 4Mbps line
R397

If there was the double data on that I'd certainly move!

Without the bundle the total cost would be
R199+R299= R498

I must say... Im not overly impressed with the results Im getting on an Afrihost Capped account. It's supposed to be UNshaped yet Im seeing better speeds when download the SAME THING using two different protocols on my IS uncapped account which is currently rated at a mere 3 stars

pity really, I was planning on kicking uncapped to the curb and going the unshaped route. But if this is what Afrihost call "unshaped" then Im gonna pass

and no, I dont have line issues regarding snr and att, there is zero other activity on the line, zero exchange congestion, etc etc

Sorry you aren't having the best experience. Our accounts definitely are unshaped, no reason why you should see slow speeds here :( When did you move over to Capped?

If it was today, the shaping changes usually happen at midnight.

Hi Afriguy,
could you please confirm whether all capped accounts are getting extra data this month?
I have checked spam folder etc. and I have definitely not received an email to this effect.
I have PM'd you my details.

Our new packages are for data only, the mystery bonus is for both Capped and Capped Bundle clients.

If you read all the Afrihost threads you'll see the okes by the mountain have a capacity problem. Even the business accounts are having issues.

Since the data promo started, I have noticed dynamic shaping rules being applied by Afrihost.

I take it that my PE routing is via CT.

After midnight everything flies, at 7:30am this morning speedtest is great, 8.71Mbps down and 19ms ping. That's awesome.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3364709905

However, as the day progresses, it drops to around 50% of that by 6PM.

Streaming video in the evenings on the Apple TV is very poor quality, no decent SD or HD streams like I used to get all the time until a week ago.

NNTP and HTTP downloads are equally affected.

In the early hours everything is fine, however.

Afrihost - when do you expect this to be resolved ?

I havent moved over. I simply have a a 4GB capped account that I use as a backup for when IS might have issues. They just dont seem to have issues lately though...

So no shaping changes required. I managed to get up to 800K on a well seeded torrent, which is 80% of my line speed. For unshaped product, that isnt really acceptable.

I utilise P2P video streaming services (throughout the day) so any form of shaping is simply not going to work for me. As well as any throughput issues, which according to what Im reading in this thread, Afrihost are indeed having.

Yes? No?

We saw the heavier of implementation before the Mystery Bonus and new Capped data.
What account do you have with us?

ADSL capped for me is perfect. I have the 75GB account and things run great (when line is working)

If this is the place to drop a friendly customer critisim:- Afrihost needs to jack up their support 100%

I had Telkom issues for over 2 weeks and in the end I had to take it up with Telkom to get resolved even though Afrihost is meant to be managing my ADSL line. What makes me even more mad was Telkom saying that Afrihost had not sent them a service request about my line being faulty.

You should also do your best to NOT reply back 3 days later and in fact get back to your paying customers the same day or the next at best.

100GB capped bundle, with 10meg line.

Definitely some reduced speeds, akin to shaping, during office hours over the past week.

Before that never had an issue at all.

Line is perfect, exchange is not congested.

I do agree with you, we're getting more staff on board really soon though :) We know we need to improve here.

You not in the cape though. The issues are in the cape.

Is there any reason Unotelly doesn't work on Afrihost?
I have everything set up as per my Telkom account but can't access Hulu.
I have also noted that the router does not seem to authenticate even though I can log on through a PPPoE session and access the internet.

Any ideas?

I've also just remembered that wireless only works when you also connect via a PPPoE session.
Is it possibly the router?

The SA servers sometimes give issues. Use Ireland instead.

PE routes via CPT.

Funny, I tested Netflix, Hulu etc this last week. I found the stream kept stopping on both services, I assume buffering. So movie would stream fine for 90 secs, then stop for 5 seconds, stream fine for 90 seconds, pause for 5 etc.

So the tests didn't go well...

That's on 40mb Capped AH account. During working hours. I assumed issues with Netflix/Hulu to SA. This was through a Samsung Blu-Ray player configured to pretend it's in the US.

And it might be unrelated, but my 1Gb EVE update is coming down at 40kb/s :(
