Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Is there any reason Unotelly doesn't work on Afrihost?
I have everything set up as per my Telkom account but can't access Hulu.
I have also noted that the router does not seem to authenticate even though I can log on through a PPPoE session and access the internet.

Any ideas?

I've also just remembered that wireless only works when you also connect via a PPPoE session.
Is it possibly the router?

Any ideas?

I must say... Im not overly impressed with the results Im getting on an Afrihost Capped account. It's supposed to be UNshaped yet Im seeing better speeds when download the SAME THING using two different protocols on my IS uncapped account which is currently rated at a mere 3 stars

pity really, I was planning on kicking uncapped to the curb and going the unshaped route. But if this is what Afrihost call "unshaped" then Im gonna pass

and no, I dont have line issues regarding snr and att, there is zero other activity on the line, zero exchange congestion, etc etc

Same here in PE - decide to "downgrade" to Capped Bundle - what a mistake! - on a 10meg line I get half the speed! - went back to the Uncapped and at least I get full speed on real time services!

Unotelly does work, you're just doing it wrong. Their instructions are pretty clear on the subject for setup on routers, PC, Xbox or PS4 or smart tv ....

You didn't read my post.
I have been using both services for close on 2 years now without a single issue.
Telkom as ISP works just fine with the settings on my router.
I know exactly how to setup Unotelly.
I even use Unohelper to assist and that to does not work with Afrihost.

Trust me when I say that I have done everything as per Unotelly's website and have used the service without a hitch before trying Afrihost.

I must admit I had no issues setting up UnoTelly on AH Capped. Worked first time. You obviously refreshed your IP address?

I use AH and it works fine. Trust me it works, you're doing something wrong, like not updating your IP address on the unotelly site if not using a dynDNS.

You're really not helping, sorry.
I know how to set unotelly up which is why it works with my Telkom ISP.
I'm not saying Unotelly doesn't work on Afrihost, I'm trying to figure out why it's not working for me.

Take into account the other problems I am having with Afrihost and base your answer on that.
I'm not blaming afrihost, I'm trying to find a solution.

If you need to set up a PPPOE on your PC to get it to work then you need to set the DNS on that connection. It won't use the routers DNS.

Do you know why this would be different between Afri and Telkom?
I have checked my settings for both and the only difference is the Afrihost login details.

Checked your settings where? On the router, or the PPPOE connection on your PC? If you are making a PPPOE from your PC what does the DNS servers say when you run "Ipconfig /all" from your PC's cmd.exe?

I'll assume you checked your IP was updated on unotelly after reconnecting, you didn't say so.
(I've used unotelly for 2 years as well, I switch between WA, OW, AH on the router, I know a fair bit when it stuffs up.)

I checked the router settings as well as the IP config settings of the network card.
Nothing was changed between Afrihost and TI.
All I did was log onto the router and change my login details to Afrihost.

How does your setup update the unodns IP address on your uno account?

I use Unohelper but also reset my ip manually through Unotelly's website.
I try both when problems occur.

You access Hulu via your PC and it still does not work?

Ok, well since you're only changing the log in details from TI to AH, there's no reason for any issues. The only thing that changes is your IP address, and you've sorted that out. So WTF can it be?

Sorry I'm out of good ideas, other than rebooting the router or trying a different set of unotelly DNS server addresses.

I've reset the router multiple times, changed the DNS settings multiple times.
I'm very confused honestly.

The same applies on any wifi devices attached.
I only get internet access when I login via a PPPoE dial in.
It's just weird.

Your router set to bridged mode or half-bridged mode?

Please can someone look into my ticket. #CMV-212-13780
I am not getting any replies from you guys. My capped account is performing like a donkey, yet my IS is running like a race horse...

I'm having terrible performance with a gig I just purchased.

If there's an issue with the capped bandwidth, what would possess me to fork over money for a business account?
