Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Sounds like some capped users may have the same symptoms we're seeing on Business. It makes sense since Business is essentially an Uncapped Capped and draws from the same resources. While we're seeing high demand on the network in relation to available capacity, this could be the case - but will most likely be resolved when our ordered capacity is delivered soon.

Oh, great. I was considering getting a capped account or two to replace the business accounts I had cancelled :(
 
you know I was going to do just that tomorrow when I go in.
try my home account at work and see what happens.
still getting about 4-600kb on work acount at home and it's been hours.
if this account starts to behave like my one after a while then we know for sure something is up with individual accounts...

Will let you know what happens tomorrow

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about moving my line to Afrihost. Emailed support on Saturday morning asking for an update, still waiting for a reply.

Afriman, I'm sending you the ticket number. Can you take look for me please.
 
Getting really bad speeds lately

On a 10mbps line,
Capped Unshaped with afrihost.
Speed tests from CPT to JHB are around 1.9 mbps
And 38k download from international.

Could this be everyone killing their remaining CAP tonight ?

ya that usually is the case at the end of the month.
but lots of people have had these bad speeds ALL MONTH!
I unfortunately am one of them

just put my account back on my home PC
speed went right back down to 40kb again
was just doing 400kb with work account

something is up people...

Moved from TI to Afrihost many months ago.
Couldn't be happier. Yeah there are some glitches... but only occasional ones... not the constant mess that TI had me paying for.
PM Afriman works like a charm.
Haven't had great Telephone or Email experience.
A tip - check your Junkmail folder. IS (my work hosting co.) drops them in there ... guess they're displeased :)

Yep - also in CPT and experiencing the same.
Can't get more than 150KB/s.
Been this way since 5pm.
Hope it resolves soon... and yeah... could be people consuming Cap.
Afriman mentioned some issues with Business accounts... could be related to what we're experiencing.

I have just put my home account on the work router and my tests are inconclusive on this side.
my home account at work is absolutely fine. net is nice and fast.
downloads top out at 300kb.
In fact my home account works better at work. so I am going to leave them switched around.
the only real difference I have is at home with the two accounts and I have no idea why?

Can I ask why the bundled capped packages are not doubled too? Now it's cheaper for me to migrate my line back to Telkom and just take a normal capped package?

Go and have a look at your client zone. I got the additional bandwidth! It says I have a 50gb account, but available is 100gb!

And I am paying R497 for it!

Count yourself lucky - mine is still at 50GB. (Not that I could use it anyway.)

1. If you downgraded from Uncapped to Capped, then that change will only take effect in the new month.

It depends on whether it's a higher value product. If you pay pro-rata, then it should change immediately. If you didn't pay pro-rata, then it would only take effect on the 1st of the new month.
i'm already billed the 399 for uncapped(i think) - so what i need to know is now that i changed my account, am i going to get billed R129 for this month separate? or was my previous payment of R399 for this month(April)?
 
Dear Afrihost

I took the plunge and bought your 75GB+75GB capped unshaped account for April. Even though you guys are having issues down here (Cape Town) at the moment I'm trusting that the extra bandwidth will be installed soon by telkom, and that this will be the beginning of a healthy partnership!

I am amazed how much data I am using since moving to capped. . . . I used to do 70GB a month +- on capped 4MB. . . Last month I used 150GB without even trying, in fact I have had to ration the past few days just so that I would make it. 100Gb ain't going to cut it, it seems.
