Afriman any hints on your capped adsl price cuts because I see webafrica has 120gb for R199pm.

Yup seems most ISP's .. just tried my Telkom ISP account and same thing. Think Web Africa is also affected.

Using my Afrihost 3g now... and it flies :)

This should have been resolved some time after 5. Still waiting for final confirmation on what actually happened here, but official story from Telkom was that some of our IPC links went down :(

Can't watch anything tonight - XBMC just buffers and times out. Useless! Pinelands exchange is stuffed and overcrowded is my guess. No SciFi channel tonight for me, resorting to a good DvD - Die Hard 3.

I thought the one after that - which I can never get the name right cos there are 50 different versions - was really awesome. I loved the whole 18 wheeler, freeway, F16 scene!!

Did you run any tests on your side to confirm in there was congestion on your exchange?

I can't even authenticate on the afrihost account at the Fourways exchange..

There has been ongoing maintenance in Fourways since last week. Could be the cause, but we should really check thoroughly on this.

If you still having problems, please drop me a PM :(

IPC busted again?

All seems normal on our side here. Are you running in bridged mode or via a static IP here?

If one signs up for a capped service today, would they then pay the price drop price when you do hopefully drop your prices? :)

I've submitted a ticket, Afriguy. I will send you the ticket number once I get confirmation of it.

What we generally do is make the new prices effective from the new billing run, so that they effective for new clients and existing clients. Depends on when we announce, but generally we automatically adjust your packages to either give you more data, or drop your price (though we usuall prefer to give you more data and leave you to downgrade if you prefer the saving)

Generally :)

I'm sure AfriGuy will sort you out ASAP ;)

Well someone :(
I don't see a ticket number anywhere (I didn't get a confirmation email about my support request).

For an 8Mb connection (getting the same result on 10Mb) this is really slow. Eve was downloading at ~100KB/s. Other downloads too.

Have you run the Network Test App? Can you paste the results or PM them to me?

Has Afrihost changed their contention ratios on their capped accounts recently? - throughput sucks last 3 days in evenings! Can't even get a steady 2mbps streaming from UK on a line that syncs at 6mbps.

Network app? I've been busy at work lately so I haven't been home much to read MyBB.

One support agent "stabilised" my line (so now it's back on 10Mb from 8Mb), and said I should try now.
Another support agent said it's due to international sites restricting us in favour of local (their side) connections.

-_-

Here's the link to download the App. Runs some standard local and international traces and pings so we can compare.
