Pretty simple. Demand overload. How is this being addressed? Theory. A % of users are being rate limited. Only as much to ensure max speed for the rest. In this equation with capacity as a finite resource and users on the other end consuming bandwidth there is only so many ways to make the math work.

Solution. Upgrade capacity. Will this happen? No. Why? Because after the demand has died down after a few days it will be 'okay' again...till the next problem.

How long were we told, 'there are no capacity issues' last year when service went to hell? Weeks? Couple months? Then all of a sudden they admitted the fault. This situation is eerily similar. Right down to the iOS update being blamed just like iOS update 7 last year.

Just be bloody transparent! You guys can learn from your competition on that front.

IOS 8 is only about 2GB, so you're telling me that by users downloading it that is the problem? Honestly shame Afrihost, on a daily basis most users use more than 1GB. Where is the transparency?

So this going to be a yearly thing :(

Have to agree. This is a BS excuse. Clearly lack of capacity.

Upgrade you capacity Afrihost. Just do it, stop making excuses.

So what you're saying is this?

I'm down to < 100kb/s on a perfect, clean 10mbps line.

Luckily, I only signed up on Monday. I have opened a support ticket to go through troubleshooting to make doubly sure there is nothing wrong on my side, and then I will be cancelling.

Will be interesting to see whether they honour their "double money back guarantee" twice, for two separate products, bought one year apart.

So what you're saying is this?

Hehe. Well home uncapped would be the child :P as for the last 7 weeks now they've already implemented forced shaping between 7am and 10pm to the max level. Only after 10pm does things become dynamic and given the current situation many users don't see unshaped usage in 24+ hours.

They did that to alleviate usage and bandwidth constraint already...it clearly could not help all that much given the current situation.

F u c k this s h i t. Goodbye Afrihost.

I hope Afrihost's management gets fired over this.

I appreciate the patience you've shown and I do believe we will resolve this pretty soon. The iOS8 release kind threw a spanner in the works for us, because we had already planned network changes, we didn't expect to have this event skew the work we had already planned. The emergency changes we made should stabilise performance for now, and hopefully the long term changes planned will also go a long way to providing the consistent experience we expect.

Hey Afriman! I've added my 2cents as well and am not going to rant about it everyday. Thanks for everyone working hard to give us a decent service and uphold the Afrihost name. Just a question...Will these changes finally improve the streaming performance? My downloads are working 100% but streaming is the biggest factor for me. I can wait for downloads to finish, but streaming is a realtime service!

I used to be on AH home uncapped as well and couldn't stream Twitch.tv or Crunchyroll.com reliably at low resolution no matter what time of day or night (and I'm a night owl). So yeah I gave up after a while when they kept telling the same old excuse.
