Thanks ChadKay, I'll take a look in the client system tomorrow. *sigh* Wish we didn't have to make the regular "walk" to another ISP so often in South Africa. An ISP account should come with it's own live-in assistant to handle rubbish for you so we actually LIVE and focus on things we really need to do. Tired of being a damn tech support all the bloody time... hmm wonder if I can send Afrihost bills? Okay, rant over. Bye Afrihost.

Back to crappy speeds again, this is unacceptable, blatantly being ripped off, I really wish AH can sort their crap out. This is how my previous isp`s (good riddance!!) started to gradually fall apart until it became a joke...

Just did a test. Speedtest just tested full speed, but p2p is very slow.

If general speeds are slow, we're probably still seeing contention on some level that is affecting P2P. We're monitoring overall performance as we weigh up our options in the long term.

logged in to say the exact same thing, this happened last night my torrents were crawling but when i did a speed test go almost full speed.

whats happening with p2p. i though capped wasnt supposed to be throttled/shaped in any way

anyway switched over to my webafrica account and got full speed

P2P has been screwed for a while now. So I ask again, why have a capped account? Like I said upthread, AH has until the next billing cycle to improve, otherwise I'm moving over to WA. We're all paying for a service here which we aren't receiving, no matter how Afriman/guy wants to sugar-coat it. NOT ACCEPTABLE. And the thing is, I really don't care for their excuses anymore. Honestly, not my problem.

Capped will definitely be back to what it should be. While there is contention now due to demand, we could see performance vary, but we're doing our best to provide the best overall experience for now while we manage demand.

Well I just switched to Afrihost to try, and well not good news. Can't even join an online gaming server, it just sits there waiting waiting, then times out. Switched back to Telkom and voila !! everything is perfect.

AH , your capped accounts are not good for any realtime activities at the moment. Probably OK just to download something overnight to kill the gigs we paid for.

If you're seeing high latency on any services we'll need to investigate ASAP. In general we're seeing much better realtime performance, so latency should be stable. Where are you reporting high latency specifically - could you give me more specifics?

Bought a Axxess capped account to test speeds.

News server download on Afrihost +- 29KB/s, on Axxess and connecting to the same "afrihost" news server my download is running at 2MB/s to 3MB/s on my 40Mbps line.

I really hope that Afrihost sort their issues out soon, have been punting them for while now to friends and family.

Edit
Speedtest with Axxess

We're definitely working really hard at this and we should already be seeing massive improvement on overall internet experience and especially on priority realtime services.

Is it too late for us to cancel this month? When is the next billing date? When do I have to put in my cancellation notice to not be billed next month? Paying for an internet lottery here.

You have to cancel in ClientZone before the 25th of the month to cancel in the same month. I know performance has been spotty of late, but we're seeing much better performance at the moment. I'm confident that things should be looking a lot better from here.

Well you definitely have us here on the forums to support you.

I totally take your point about being a tech support person, the reality though is that we can't replicate every single environment. Every device, router, line, exchange and area is unique and the most meaningful results are the one that you see from your experience. We're working on designing more tools like our network test app that makes troubleshooting easier and more automated.

Speeds should still be good according to my reports. Where are you measuring poor speeds? Is that in general or on a specific service?

Speeds are not "pretty good" !! Lucky to get 100Kbs on AH with http downloads... full line speed on others. Still.

Unless 100Kbs are pretty good?

No I haven't. I'll do that first thing tomorrow though. TBH I just assumed it was the same problem everyone else was having. But I'll contact support and try to help if I can.
.

I opened a ticket and posted the info I had. The latencies to PathOfExile seem better today, still spiking up to 750+ occasionally, but mostly stable at 210 or so. For the past week it'd spike to 1K+ and just stay there till the connection timed out.

So some progress at least. Good job.

I'll leave ticket open for a few days just in case.

Really glad to hear that steps are being made in the right direction :)
Drop me a PM with the ticket ref# if you notice things go a bit sideways again.

Great so I'm stuck with another month of timeouts and bad speeds. Thank you Afrihost.
