Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

I feel the same, and that's why I'll be out before the next billing cycle. Afrihost will become my backup account. I'm probably going to move to Web Africa. The reason I got a capped account was to AVOID SHAPING. Now that Afrihost is doing their NOT-SHAPING bull****, I'm out. The only way these charlatans will learn is by taking our money elsewhere. The amount of SPIN in this thread and others related to Afrihost is nauseating.

Afriman/guy can sugarcoat this **** all they want, but the reality is that we are NOT GETTING WHAT WE PAY FOR. Any consumer who enjoys not getting what they pay for are more than welcome to stay.

You've posted a few times about spin and several other comments, and I totally understand your frustration and respect your right to form your own opinion. I am definitely ready to admit that in recent weeks your experience has probably not been as good as it has been in the past when our network hasn't been under the demand we're now seeing.

Whether you don't like the information I've shared or disbelieve it, I can promise we have been very open and also sincerely do apologise that you are having a poor experience. Everything that can be done is being done and improving your experience is our primary concern.

@Afriguy,

This better be an across the board offer, because I want to drop all my Data packages with you guys, you can keep the line managed.

The cherry on top was when I realised my double-data was gone this month, your support team told me to unbundle my package, then rebundle it increasing the cost by an additional R128.00. Are you bloody kidding me? Where the hell is that stipulated in the agreement and how dare you just change my service that you advertise still on your website?

Refunds are granted on a case-by-case basis exclusively by our Accounts team. They have their own criteria and directive from senior management. That applies to credits and double money back guarantees.

Unfortunately several clients on custom bundles (which are not eligible for double data) received extra data due to a bug in our system which was only recently discovered and fixed before the last billing run. Any client affected has the option to either stick with their custom price or covert to the standard double data bundle on the website. If that was not the case in your situation, I'd be happy to review this for you. Just drop me a PM.

:confused:

Is this an offer to all clients or just a select few?

There is no blanket offer made. I think this client made an individual application based on his own experience and motivation. I can't really comment further because refunds are granted at the Accounts Manager's discretion, based on applicable criteria.

I don't know when you took this screen grab, there is a notice on the North and South region DSL. The South one has been active for some time, but we're working on our bug in our website that clears the notice when newer notices are opened and closed.

That was a current screenshot at the time of that post... it was all green and bombing copacetic up until a few minutes ago.

Forget clearing the noticeboard bug... how about actively communicating this to your affected clients by a less buggy means... or I guess Gian knows the clients better than themselves and will take it upon himself to do this eventually.

Hi Afriman/guy, I have a 2Mb line and a capped account at you guys.

I am not usually one to gripe, but my latency to the EU Diablo 3 server is 2180ms. This server ping is basically unplayable.

My tracert shows no exchange congestion. I have attached various results for your perusal.

Have an awesome day and a fun weekend!

As one of your loyal AH customers since 2009, your ongoing line speed problems on capped accounts is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I've now regrettably cancelled one of these accounts.
Really AH you have fallen from Hero to Zero! very sad indeed.
Until we meet again....goodbye

my refund also got denied. apparently 2 weeks of **** service is not good enough to claim a refund.

We'll look at the clientbase as a whole when Gian and management make that assessment. There is definitely a notice up on the site since this morning.

Definitely doesn't look great, I can see latency spikes throughout the trace and it does seem to be on our network. If you're getting those kind of spikes your in-game latency is going to be pretty intermittent.

We're doing everything we can to manage demand and we'll also focus on trying to keep latency as low as possible during the demand peak :(

@Afriman,

A final question in business logic and planning. The new "It" word amongst Afrihost Support is "High Demand" which has thankfully replaced a pathetic and deceitful "Congested Exchange" slur of responses.

I will make use of a simple analogy. Kindly explain how your company sells 2000 pies while you only have 50 in stock?

How could you not have gathered from simple statistics that you might not have a pipe large enough to cater for the necessary flow, that you so happily keep increasing because money is money, is money, right?

One word: GREED.

Thank you for the kind reply. I was an Afrihost supporter from Day 1 when you guys were offering hosting only, so I will ride this one out. May you be successful in your hurdles regarding these current issues :D

I think at the end of the day, we didn't foresee demand to spike and stay at those levels. While upgrades are always planned, the growth in traffic recently overtook our predictions.

Saying this though, upgrades are on the way.

Well since you're "on the ball", when are these updates due? Because you'll have a plethora of losses in customer base and the stupid loyal bastards like myself will be hanging on and supporting in hope that you get your act back together - So when can we expect to go back to normal?

I really wish I had a date to tell you guys, I'm afraid I don't :(
As soon as something is finalised I'll let everyone know.
