Heck of a way to show it. I'm not trying to run Afrihost here, but surely there should be a meeting whereby someone says "seeing as though we don't have enough capacity to satisfy our current customers, and our client's experience is our top priority, maybe we should stop selling new accounts until such time as the new capacity gets installed?" or "As our customers are our top concern, maybe we should keep them better informed with the situation.."
Look, I'm not asking you to give us a date that you don't have. In fact, I'm not asking you to do anything that you're not in a position to do. My issue isn't with you (although, if i'm honest, the constant pro management propaganda is quite annoying) but with management itself. Your job is to communicate with the public, and you can only communicate what has been given to you. The issue is that so little information seems to have been given to you. I cannot believe that the best estimate that AH management has for the the IPC upgrades is "very soon". They're paying for it! They're pushing for it! Why can't they just keep us updated? In the past week, literally nothing has changed. "Very soon" is still "very soon".
I'm sorry if I seem to be pro-management. I'll be honest, we make mistakes. Sometimes we get things wrong, and I think it's always with the intention to do the right thing - but sometimes things don't go as expected. With regard to these upgrades, those meetings did happen. Well before we started seeing complaints, our team sat down with MTN and said this is what we think and what we need, and those negotiations were already underway. However, demand started to increase at a rapid rate and the need became much more urgent as clients started reporting the poor performance we've seen. Ordering IPC is a complex issue. The financial costs and impact on overall business model internally is complex enough, not to mention how it affects upstream relationships with MTN, etc. These are usually negotiations that take weeks or even months to research, draw up and agree on. We pushed the upgrades through as fast as possible and I think using the timeframe for the East one can see that this was all concluded very, very quickly.
Again, when it comes to IPC, there really are no reliable time frames that we can communicate. I don't have the info, our management don't have it and neither do MTN. As soon as MTN receives any information, they alert us and I get the go ahead to update you guys.
