Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Ok. Just wanted to make sure the repeat is normal.

You wouldn't normally see it twice, I think it's only because you're pinging it specifically that it appears twice.

So in this route, to reach the IP, you still have to go through that hop, enter our network, and then go back to IP address, where normally it would appear once.

The purpose of the thread is to give feedback and work towards giving clients a better experience. That is not your purpose. I don't think trying to encourage others to make the same choices as you is appropriate, but how you choose to spend your time is up to you.

If your frustration is around being locked in for another month, then drop me a PM and let's see what we can do. We always do what we can to help our clients, so I promise I will do my best to help you here.

I understand exactly what this thread is for. I've been on myBB before Afrihost even existed. I agree that it's for you to assist customers with their issues. That falls under the category of equipping people.

If you think that equipping people only comes into play when they become a customer, you are sorely mistaken. Scores of people read these forums , and they are not customers. They come here for guidance and advice, and will see posts like mine telling them to BEWARE! Why should I be shut up only for people to become customers, have issues, and only THEN to adopt the approach ok well now lets try and equip them. It's backward.

You are here to help your customers, and I am here to equip people, regardless of whether they are customers or not. Whether that is a problem or not for you, its not my concern.

I think you are free to express your opinion on another thread, this thread is for assisting Afrihost capped customers with issues?

Or am I misunderstanding?

It's a feedback thread, where people should be able to provide feedback to equip people reading these threads to make informed decisions...

It's pretty straightforward imho.

I don't think so . This is an independent website and the name of the thread is "Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)" so techead is giving feedback . If Afrihost want they can open a forum on their website and there they can control it .

I can appreciate that you're a long time member, but that has no bearing on the fact that threads have rules, and that's up to the mods to decide. I think the note I posted made it pretty clear what the thread is intended for. Your post here clearly indicates that your intention is to go against this, so I think it's best to let the mods decide what is appropriate.

Absolutely. We don't have any objection to people starting their own threads to state their opinion. The individual forum user can decide whether they'd like to read other threads that are based on individual opinions or experiences, and the member in question is free to start his own thread at any time.

Nobody questions that MyBB is independant, but the threads have rules. Anyone is free to start their own thread expressing whatever opinon they'd like, but this thread has a specific purpose, which is to communicate with clients. Using this as a platform to vent or advertise other ISP's is expressly forbidden by the thread moderator, and is more suitable in a thread intended for that.

Please feel free to start your own thread and build an audience for the opinion you would like to express. That's how forums work. The idea is to stay on topic for each thread, which is what they are specifically designed for. Posting off topic inhibits our ability to use the thread for the purpose of communicating and assisting clients, which is our role to play here.

You know you're turning this into more of a thing by arguing about whether the post should be in this thread or not...

I must admit that I fail to understand your actions . If this thead is for helping clients why don't you open a forum on your website , limited to your own clients and help them there . In the past Afrihost used the thread to promote themselves and it was all good. Now when there are problems you are trying to bully the tread . If you don't like it that way go home and create your own forum.

I think there are many clients who want us here to assist them and provide them with information, whether that is related to products or promotions or a particular query or complaint. That is the purpose of this thread. Even this discussion should be in a thread about posting on threads, so that clients who need help and information from us can get what they need as quickly as possible.

Perhaps the word "feedback" should be removed from the thread title? Maybe "Official Moderated Afrihost Customer Service Forum" would be more appropriate, and we can start our own feedback thread where we can voice our opinion elsewhere?

I wont be bullied.

Attention Mods

Please confirm whether or not I am allowed to post my experience and feedback in this thread? Yes, it's largely negative but that it what Afrihost has become in the South. I come on here each night, and it's the same issues over and over met with the same denial from Afrihost over and over. All you need to do is look around. My posts are intended to equip people deciding whether or not they should use Afrihost or not. People should have that info at their fingertips, and not wait to be screwed over before they are entitled to be "helped"

This is the first thread people will come to, when making a decision. Not some random thread with 5 pages.

Am I not allowed to do that?

I still struggled after 9 with streaming last night was good till around 8ish. Doesn't seem as if the tweaking worked on my side...

What tweaking were you doing? Or do you mean the tweaking we were doing?

It does seem like performance suffers when demand is at peak, so we need to see if we are managing traffic and demand efficiently. Our technical team are busy with this at the moment.

I was talking about the tweaking Afrihost was doing yesterday. Is there a eta as to when we can expect things to be working properly?

I think you need to read the first post. This was created for feedback. Good or bad feedback.
And I appreciate your help.

Can anyone recommend the 2Mbps uncapped package from Web AfricaI desperately need to change ISP and would like similar to what I have going now but without the ridiculous throttling.
