I'm not sure how to read this trace becuase it looks like you;re hitting a firewall or exchange server first before the router. That could be contributing to intermittent latency. I also see that your second hop times out (which we're seeing more of since Telkom upgraded their systems, but immediate high latency afterwards. Since I am not seeing general latency problems, my guess would be possible congestion or a fault on the line
Thanks for the response. Hop 3 is strange indeed, hop 2 is our DSL modem so what firewall can this hop 3 be? Something in Telkom's exchange or what? Anyone have an idea?
