Guys,
How we implement QoS and the recent issues clients are having with downloads are not anything to do with MTN. From the network perspective, we believe it's been solid. The latency issues were a result of how we had managed traffic (or rather not managed it by leaving everyone unshaped) and I think everyone can agree that this got 1 million times better once we implemented QoS. We had already applied for the capacity upgrades at least two months ago, and we have no control over how long Telkom takes to implement CT and DBN IPC, but things will also improve in terms of local and international latency once these are in place.
Also, what MTN does on it's mobile operations, locally and abroad, has got absolutely nothing to do with us, and no impact at all on their ADSL service provision to us. It would be like wondering if your local gym is going to close down because Sir Richard didn't manage to cross the English Channel (though he actually did).
If "
the recent issues clients are having with downloads are not anything to do with MTN." and "
From the network perspective, we believe it's been solid." is how you view these many pages of capped/uncapped ADSL QoS complaints, then let's see how many ADSL clients you have by Feb/March, which some say is the date you expect issues to be resolved...I sincerely hope that these terrible QoS issues are resolved by then.
The bolded part of your response above, does not help in changing the perceptions/opinions that people have, concerning mtn. I gave my opinion, "I'd say mtn,
whatever the division, could care less whether quality of service is a concern...", after I had posted a link, where people express their concern regarding mtn
ADSL Quality of Service and one about their cellular Quality of Service...An opinion, which I'm sure, is shared by many, having read the threads/articles concerned.
Since I'm paying for a supposedly "premium" service of 50GB "capped", so that I can create 3D content online and game online without agony, I naturally expect better than the pure junk QoS that is served, with a dessert of "From the network perspective, we believe it's been solid."...
Yes, I would shut the hell up about QoS if I was paying R89,00 for 4MB "browse only" uncapped...
That said, I sincerely wish all at Afrihost, all the best for the holiday season and the new year ahead.
