Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Lol. Someone got threatened to get cut off from support. This isn't going to go down well.
I suspect a ton of screen shots saved already

I don't think this was ever threatened. In fact, we always offer whenever anyone needs it. :)

Taking a complaint away from Afrihost and escalating it directly to ISPA really does tie our hands a bit, though. I think that was what was meant here. :(

Absolutely shocking speed this evening - Durban.1kbps on a news item and browsing terrible.

Same as every evening
Same culprit too: cpt-net1.ip.adsl.co.za

Guys you really need to sort this out. Cannot believe we're still here.

Yup, same issues here. Perhaps Afrihost should hire some consulting network engineers :)

If there is just a ETA on when this problem will be sorted. I cannot think why this is handled on a per user base as this is a central point problem.

Fly someone from Afrihost down to Cape Town for a week with his laptop and connect to the ADSL :crylaugh:

Anyone else experiencing issues with the AH NNTP server. Seems to want a username / password?

Had no idea Afrihost even had a news server! Tested now and I receive the same error in SAB, but it still connects and downloads sucessfully.

Taking the ISPA route will, however, take the query out of our hands.
Really? Nah ah. I'd say the converse is true - a greater level of diligence would be expected.
The original response smacks of a threat. Plain and simple. And that ain't appropriate.
Retract it, look into why the individual feels they've been given the run-around - and hey lots of us have felt and voiced the same in the past, help sort out their issues.
My 2c worth.

Thanks for checking this out for me. Really appreciate it.
:) Is a selling point for me. Don't have to bother with a $12 per month server. It's a pretty good offering as well. Believe it's with Highwinds. About 200day retention.
See it's going again - albeit at a blooming crawl. 200kbps. Eish.

Broadband Status
Our Broadband network is running like a bomb! Everything is copacetic and we’re good to GO!

No, no it's not... I have to use Web Africa every night if I want a semblance of reasonable ping.

Morning Guys!

Thank you for posting the results, I've passed the results onto our Team, and this is definitely something we are working on.

My 2c worth.

Both ourselves and Critical Care attempted to assist the Client, however, savage was very un-cooperative and rather rude in several instances.

I can understand his frustration, but at the end of the day we can only assist our Clients if they work with us. Our Critical Care Team is highly experienced and won't waste anyone's time, so when they request specific tests it is because they need those results to resolve the issue. Sending us someone else's traceroutes and test results isn't going to help us to resolve the problem in anyway.

Once someone goes the ISPA route the matter is taken out of our hands and an entirely different process is enacted that neither us as the MyBB Repts nor the Critical Care Team are a part of.

Our news server uses your DSL details to authenticate so you shouldn't have to enter a username and password. Are you still getting the same error?
