Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Morning

Judging from the number of comments over the weekend, I am guessing that things have improved, though definitely some issues we need to look into from the users who did post. Thank you so much for posting your results so we can give the network guys more feedback. There has been a lot of work put into making sure the South performs as well as our clients expect, and I think we are getting there.

And then on weekends it starts earlier.
These clowns really don't have a clue or do not care to fix it.

Trace complete.

Latency high in Cape Town again :(

Can I ask that you please ping bras.afrihost.com when you run these tests so it's give us the full picture?

Not really sure who's being fooled here, but it's actually getting worse. Especially over a weekend. I'm assuming most people have actually moved on or don't see the point of participating in this stats gathering exercise.

If you guys actually did bother to go through the info posted, you'll notice that bras is mostly included when I post the day stats. And that is stats for the entire day, not just selected nice or bad parts at random.
Example 1
Example 2

Now for the last time please do bother to check this out. Without excuses of it being too much data. You can always just focus on the local servers where I point out the most impact:
news24
afrihost
mweb
exa
and then obviously bras for cross reference

Obviously start at the latest ones in 2017-02
All Data
Just to make sure you guys understand how to read this and it's not too higher grade. It gives you per date broken down per target host the trace routes for the day. Next to each trace is a link, called "Raw tracert output", to expand and show the full raw trace route data.

And then if you guys do bother to check this out properly you'll notice that it's actually gotten progressively worse. We started with latency around 100ms in early Jan, but now we're sitting at 150ms.

The quick test I replied to is really sufficient. As I mentioned, giving us 30 traceroutes to wade through that all tell us the same thing is really not necessary. Just a simple one, like you posted, with your ping to bras.afrihost.com, is all that we need.

All this is automated. I'm not going to go search for the cross reference on bras just to prove that my exchange is not at fault. It's in the data I'm giving you to sort out your issues. I'm giving you all the info so you can see the trend. I'm even nice enough to try and highlight in the data where things go bad. Still this is too much?

Making blanket statements that things are getting better is also absolute cr*p. I've given you all the stats I can. Wasted my time automating this to sort out your issues.

I really do give up. This is my last gasp attempt to help you guys sort out your issues. Take it, don't take it. Your choice.

Must say performance on my capped account has been shocking this month.

The network took quite a dive this morning just after 7 for about 10-15 minutes, Youtube was auto-downgrading to 144p and buffering...

It came right just before 7:30, unable to say what it's like now. Did not do any traces.

To all the Afripeeps here, maybe it's worth investing in a tool that can be run by customers when they are experiencing these issues and that will submit pings etc to all the various services to your team automatically, I believe it will take away quite a bit of the pain and frustration.

looks like the it only works for 2 days are back again this weekend was shocking specially after 6pm with shaping going on and then if you are lucky it works after midnight or not

we could not even update our operating systems after midnight

Yesterday I had issues even loading a 720p video on any device, had to wait for buffer on a 10Mbps line. Was on an iPad, couldn't tracert or anything and not inclined to. 11am. Went out after that, can't comment on the rest of the day.

:(

Things looked okay during that period, how is your streaming looking at the moment?

How were your speeds looking during that time?

we dont even do torrents and every day from 5pm everything slows down including browsing but on another isp it works fine so what does that tell us

From my side it's basically just torrents taking a knock in peak hours...everything else is fine. On a shaped capped account...

Thanks for the update! It's definitely an area we're working on.

I can understand his frustration, but at the end of the day we can only assist our Clients if they work with us. Our Critical Care Team is highly experienced and won't waste anyone's time, so when they request specific tests it is because they need those results to resolve the issue. Sending us someone else's traceroutes and test results isn't going to help us to resolve the problem in anyway.

Firstly, your Critical Care team, is obviously NOT as experienced as you would want us to believe. Otherwise, the problem would have been fixed MONTHS ago already. This issue is going back as far as OCTOBER last year, not only for me but for A LOT of your customers in Cape Town. Please, let's be straight and honest here now.

Secondly, I have NOT posted someone ELSE'S test results. I have posted HUNDREDS of *MY* traceroutes and they can go and LOOK AT THEM if they need to see them. I have even provided them links to the thread, and further than that, to MY posts directly. Your Critical Care team, is obviously SO experienced, that they can not read.

Thirdly, I am NOT going to be running the same tests, over and over and over until I eventually get tired of it. Which, seems to be AFRIHOST'S way to resolve problems. Not ONCE, in this ENTIRE THREAD, has there been feedback provided to ONE SINGLE TEST that your customers ran... Not ONCE!

Fourthly, YES, I have been rude! The attitude from your Critical Care team (and the entire Afrihost for that matter) is condescending to say the LEAST!!! I come to Critical Care with a SERIOUS problem, and all I get back from them is a bunch of smiley faces??? WAKE the hell UP please!

You, and your Critical Care team seem to ENDLESSLY want test after test after test at your CLIENTS expense, and you CLEARLY do not do anything with them.

Yes, I have gone to the ISPA, and I encourage ALL other Afrihost clients in the CPT to follow the same route.

This, is PATHETIC service levels for ANY ISP, let alone for Afrihost.
