Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Drop me a PM with your DSL line number I'll ask our Openserve Service Manager to check if the sync can be pushed up.

If you notice Youtube performance dropping off, can you please run a speedtest, then just take a screenshot the Stats for Nerds window in Youtube please.

Will do.

I've dropped you a PM, any advice would be appreciated.

Got it! Thanks! I'll probably only get an update from Openserve tomorrow morning, I'll let you know once the line has been re-synced, if it's possible.

Up North YT seems fine (Had a quick drop from 18:00 for a couple of minutes to around 2000kbps. then went back to normal)

but still that latency on the 3rd hop (all sites)

Seeing a bit of P/L there too. Mind tracing to afrihost.com for me?

No rush, just want to know if it could be synced at a higher rate while continuing to be stable.

I guess we find out tomorrow :p

Trying to load Twitch, not trying to load a stream just load the site itself.
The site doesn't load at all

You will get no response to these tests as your posted results prove it's a capacity issue. They can sugar coat and smiley face all they want. Fck all is being passed onto any team, they know exactly what the problem is.

I am still yet to receive a single response to any of my test results which showed the same thing which I posted multiple times weeks ago. PM's also go ignored.

Any ISP that can't sort an issue out after months of the same thing night after night needs to seriously reevaluate their support.

Hundreds of tests have been posted by multiple clients without a single explanation other than results have been passed on and tweaks are being made.

AH cut the BS and stop wasting people's time. The only thing that can fix the issues in the South is more capacity and you know that.

Another thing, update your website indicating there are known issues on the network. Clearly you guys have forgotten the previous ruling or you simply just do not care.

Remember that the kind of fine they got is nothing compared to the money being saved by not upgrading capacity. Not even a drop in the bucket.

Just switch. I dropped my AH account to minimum 10GB cap. Getting a discount on line rental as a result of this.
Other ISP's don't have this cr*p and some even offer same free time as AH did. And with R1 first month sign up special you can sign up risk free.

Morning everyone

I totally understand the frustrations here, but I don't understand some of the comments saying we're doing nothing and that your results are not being passed onto the team. While the results may not be as favourable as we'd like, there is definitely some serious work happening to try to improve your experience and we can see from our own testing that there has been improvement. We can only continue to work on this and find areas to improve to get things where we want them to be.

We're not sparing any expense, and have just done a very expensive upgrade. This is one of the reasons why some promotions were hard to keep going given then rising costs. So we're not holding back in terms of giving our clients the best experience possible.

This trace is a little concerning. Seeing that high latency on your 2nd hop could indicate some exchange congestion as that router is on the Telkom network. Do you see the same results when you connect with another ISP account?

I have tried a Webafrica account and that was working fine. I did logged a ticket which was confirmed closed yesterday, but I doubt that this is a Telkom issue.

Okay so the last two nights saw a tangible improvement from my side. The usual ping spike times remained stable and there was no need to switch ISP's. I will be keeping and eye on it though, keep it up.

It can be hard to tell when there are issues on the network, but it is unusual to see high latency at the BRAS.

That's excellent! Thanks for sharing :)
