Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Why I am having issues streaming video every evening on Afrihost with an Openserve fibre line. I have a 100mb line but I'm lucky to even get 3mb/s throughput. Happens every day during peak periods. If I switch the a Web Africa account suddenly I am streaming without any hickups. Again points to a capacity issue on the Afrihost network. I seriously doubt that it is a capacity issue.

Which streaming site are you having trouble with?

Axxess will need to look into this from their side as I don't have any insight into their accounts.

Were you able to run a traceroute at all? It will help us a great deal to find the cause of the latency.

You should get pretty close to your line speed in most instances. Depending on the type of Capped account you are on, your P2P and HTTP downloads may be shaped, but streaming will always receive priority.

I just want to point out that this is exactly what you said last time before admitting there was capacities issues a few days later.

Typical response where you don't actually read the question. I'm asking about contention ratio during prime time on UNSHAPED CAPPED.
 
yes please tell us what your contention ratio is and why the internet is so crappy at times since your so called hardware failure a couple of days ago

I don't have that exact answer, but if you are asking about our shaping policy, I'm sure you know that it is dynamic and does not affect realtime services such as streaming.
