Afrihost down?!

Looks like their entire network at IS is down ... IS is up though. So I presume it is either their customer supplied firewall or customer supplied switch in their cage @ jupiter hosting room that has died.!

as per the title?

confirmed as a network issue, attending to it.
Looks like it is only their infrastructure that is down.

It's down again. Can't reach our servers.

*edit*

and up again just after I post that. It's up and down and up and down at the moment.

looks like they were down for at least 30 minutes

missed the second one completely.... wonder how often this really happens?

They are down again. They keep saying it is an IS problem, but the entire IS network is up except Afrihost. They never reply advising their clients why they went down previous times. I suspect eithe their customer supplied firewall or switch in their cage @ jupiter is causing the issues

How can that be an IS problem? :D

Are they expecting more problems - their domain is now suddenly hosted on the Mweb network:

lol at their fail over to Mweb :D says a lot when an ISP hosts their site somewhere else....

Everything seems fine again, was around 15min this round.

Incident indicates that all the outages were as a result of Denial of Service attacks on their hosting network.

Think it may have been an MTN business fault, I have Afrihost ADSL and could access everything else, but our server hosted with MTN business!

The Hosting downtime is not at all related to MTN Business, all our hosting is still based at Internet Solutions.

Unfortunately we lost connectivity to the DC due to a DOS attack, which is a sad reality of the internet environment. We do our best to cater for the these events, and instituted Early Warning Systems to quickly isolate and neutralise the problem (in this incident this was done in just under a minute). However we still have to wait for the network to recover, which sometimes make it hard for new incoming connections to get through for a few minutes. We'll be adding some hardware upgrades and devices to ensure that we cope better with these issues as our hosting services continue to grow.

I'm very glad I moved all my customer sites away. It was nothing but bad times with Afrihost hosting. I'm wondering what the motive for that DOS attack could be.

"Best hosting EVER." <--
