Afrihost increases ADSL value

Is this what Gian splattered on our screens? :D An improvement on their capped products, looking forward to seeing what they do with uncapped.

Is top up R29 for 2GB now too?

Table has a mistake, Bronze package new data is 2GB.

Hmm, just a R15 difference between pricing on the 20GB and 35GB?

I will take it :D

Good work as always Gian and team!

Sweet. Got one of their specials a while back and was getting 11 gigs for R 99.00. Guess that means I now get 16 gigs for R 99.00!

Can some one tell me why you would take any of these packages? If you get any where remotely close to R199 a month you might as well take the Mweb uncapped and other wise its probably better to think about going 3G and saving the ADSL line charges?

Mweb's uncapped used to be bad for gaming but I'm getting great pings at the moment?

There's a difference between "unshaped" and "uncapped with good speeds/pings lately".

I have tried both their packages and the capped packages are so much better speed wise. This is such an awesome improvement to an already great product.

All the companies have been improving their offerings over the last week or so. I wonder if this is due to the new cable?

Can I ask how different and which servers/ protocols ?

Just curious, I haven't experienced any significant issues with my uncapped account other than torrents during office hours but maybe I've just been lucky with my usage patterns. I'm getting 10-15ms to a lot of servers on Battlefield 3 but I think they are mweb based anyway so it probably doesn't count.

Did you miss the announcement on IPC costs?

For capped data, Afrihost is still the number one choice. Great work Gian and the AH team.

Now you need to focus on getting your uncapped packages in line with those of MWEB. I'd much rather support AH who revolutionised the ADSL industry in RSA. I wouldn't mind paying R899 to AH for an all-inclusive 4mbps uncapped line, instead of to MWEB. However, your FUP and service (network, quality, speeds, latency, redundancy) needs to be comparable or better than MWEB's.

You will win over a lot of customers if you can do this.

Unshaped basically means that they do not limit any protocol, and usually (not always) you get the best possible speeds on any protocol (Usenet, VOIP, Gaming, P2P, web browsing and mail) at any time.

Mweb has basically prioritised their network so that general users have almost nothing to complain about. All of the above work well. However, should you want to download via p2p or usenet, then you will be subject to shaping. Gaming is on the highest priority for Mweb users too. so that is why your ping is so good :)
