Afrihost is ***

I think I am going to get the blame treatment today from these guys.
My internet experience is like the opening of parliament ATM. Slow, hectic and generally all fekked up.

Know that feeling.
Well at least I have a short week. Just hope my line will be fixed tonight. Need to finalize a few things for my wedding this weekend

Been with afrihost a month now and already feel like canceling.

This is my speed test on a 4meg business line

Ping :155 ms

Download: 0.62 Mbps

Upload: 0.31

Everyone seems to recommend afrihost, especially there business lines. Tried to watch an episode on Apple TV, 20 minutes to buffer. They must be joking.

Morning Dude!

Definitely not cool to see those sorts of speeds!

Would you be able to post a traceroute to Afrihost.com? I'll need to see where the latency is introduced to be have a good idea what the cause of the issue is.

Have you been consistently getting these sorts of speeds and latencies?

Sorry quite a newbie to these things so going to have to google how to do a trace route. Will come back with info. Have noticed though that sometimes the speed is quite decent. Then at other times it's extremely slow.

Well Afrihost is just rubbish.

I was with mweb adsl for a few years (premium uncapped and latter just capped).

I switched to afrihost this month to save money and get more data - BIG mistake.... I have only used them for 16 days...

Afrihost is like a cheap donkey with repeating latency issues (and no actual feedback from support on it). I have a friend who is also on Afrihost (in a different area) and he has latency issues when i have as well over this month.

Mweb is like the BMW of internet access (it just works all the time - no ping performance issues). The only times I ever needed their support, the problem turned out to be telkom, and mweb did a fine job of support (unlike afrihost that just stays quiet when there is a problem on their side)

If you wanna play FPS, use Mweb.

Ah, yet another night where any local game server's ping is over 100ms... Thanks Afrihost... this is exactly what I pay for...

Oh wow. For the first time this month afrihost replied to my emails about the recurring latency issues.

Apparently i must clear the cookies in my browser.

I am sure that will fix everything.

:D

Option 1: Wait another 3 months or so for them to actually upgrade their capacity

or

Option 2: move ISPs. (Webafrica or Crystal Web)

So this morning my internet is buggered again. Seems to happen at weekends

Bit of a wild accusation. My Afrihost account works fine.

If I were you I'd first check out other possible issues before going onto a public forum and slinging derogatory accusations.

FYI turns out my "accusations" are rather true :)

Just about any OTHER ISP I try... automagically resolves my problems with Youtube.... Hau... eiiiish I dunno de answer!

Well then I think we found your problem :D

LOL yea, except I had to pay these clowns R600 this month... didn't get round to blocking the debit order... was planning to download the internet... but that ain't going to happen at these horrendous line speeds...

Strange how this thread started 4 months ago, and it is only in the last 2 weeks that Afrihost admitted that they have issues :-P THIS IS THE STORY OF THE AFRIHOST LIFE!
