Afrihost launches Pure Uncapped LTE

"Previously, users were allowed to use this data from 00:01 until 05:59. However, MTN has now reduced this validity period to 00:01 until 04:59."

From a previous article on mbb

So where is the night time data valid until 6?? You now have an extra hour that comes off your main data.

For the uncapped packages, Afrihost said they will have a monthly data usage threshold of 1TB. When this limit is reached, download speeds will be limited to 1Mbps for the remainder of the month.
Quite a slowdown. Is that correct?

AG ^%$^%$&^& tog !!!!

JUST STOP THE NIGHT SURFER %#%$# already and get a TRUE (Affordable) UNCAPPED LTE product out there PLEASE !

There is. It's launched by Rain. How is the speeds doing though?

It's just how it is. Capped and split between anytime and night data to manage the speed and performance of the network. If you let the flood gates open the speeds tank because radio frequency is finite resource. Even with the temp allocations it's not ideal because you can't plan to buy the correct network equipment to support it because it needs to be given back. If it was permanent spectrum yeah then maybe the landscape will be different.

Lol uncapped at R2949 with a 1tb softcap. Will stick with Rain thanks...
With Rain R250 Unlimited Off Peak I currently stand on 725GB with speeds between 20 - 50mbps and that is Netflix streaming, working from home, kids updating and downloading xbox games, tablets, smartphones connected, I will easily hit 1TB before 20th of the month. I am more than happy with this offer @ R250.00. R2949 LTE uncapped with 1TB softcap...well this is madness to pay that!! Same as you, I will stick with Rain...

damn got baited for a sec with the first paragraph, gonna be a hard no from me @ R3000p/m, rain still pushing on great here on both 19 and 24 hour packages.

The fact that this is "unshaped" is a game changer for LTE. It may be expensive but the use case is good for people who don't have fibre. In the past I always had problems with using a smart dns service to unblock streaming services, as routing for streaming servers are international with a smart dns and shaping stopped any hope doing stuff like that.

Something like the 300GB day and 300GB night is priced fair and should be good for most people.

To be honest, speeds are not great, but it's deffo better with a VPN, thats for sure. I'm actually using Express at the moment, but my month is running out, and i don't know if there is anything better out there. I've been doing a bunch a research, and seems that NORD,Express and SurfShark are pretty good options. I just checked out Windscribe but they want $1000 for lifetime membership - no way i'm paying that upfront for a VPN.
