Yup I cannot use LTE at all on my device it switches over to H+ or 3G as soon as it tries to go to LTE it just says no signal :-(

Looks like we are on our own with this?

@Afriguy has Afrihost changed anything with regards to the data?

I use to get around 11mb+ download and now barely get 4mb download.

To top that off, it drops connect every so often (it shows its still connected to MTN and 3G is connected),
but no throughput at all.

And when I switch to LTE (or even edge, different modem) doesn't even connect.

Anything we can do?

Nothing major has changed to our knowlegde, though MTN are running some pretty crazy specials as well, so maybe demand for data may be increased.

Are you connecting in the same spot as usual - or are you testing on the move?

SIM's can be provisioned with additional services. Usually the device hosting the SIM card will need to be rebooted for any such changes to take effect.

I'm always here to help, sorry I'm only picking this up now :( Did your LTE previously work and are you testing in the same location?

Please PM me all your numbers and details so I can check if anything has gone funny with LTE provisioning on our side :(

No ... it has never worked. I got my LTE router last week ... but never worked. I phoned into the Afrihost call centre to check that it is provisioned and the lady said yes. I checked that night with my router ... but did not work. I then PM'ed Afriguy and he said no... it is strange she said that cause it is not provisioned and he will send the request to MTN to have it done. I am now provisioned ... but it still does not work. I tested it in areas that is covered by the map.

Will pm my number now now. Thank you afriman.

Does anyone else experience getting disconnected in chat clients? Whenever I'm on my Afrihost account my gmail chat client (Adium) will lose connection and re-connect about 5 seconds later. Happens about 5-10 times a day.

When I use my Vodacom sim in the same device and it never happens (was using Vodacom all last week).

Any ideas?

Got your PM - thanks. Have sent this through to MTN. Maybe they re-provisioned the SIM and not for LTE. It's a separate process so it's any easy mistake to make :(

I use Adium for pretty much everything and I don't have this issue. I do know that some areas with spotty coverage do see very short disconnections and immediate reconnections - and some devices don't like this at all. Might also be latency related to signal :(

Afriman may be you can help me. I am getting invalid profile error. Haven't changed anything on mifi. Worked fine for 2 months. Last couple of days whenever I try to connect I get that error. Afriguy adviced me to reset the mifi. I did that with no luck. Tried the sim in another 3G modem same error. The default profile is afrihost with apn afrihost.

Dont know about today ... but last night it was so frustrating I eventually gave up and switched off my laptop. I think I rebooted my router 6 times trying to get the data to flow nicely

No probs here. What I did notice is at times, it's a bit slow/not responding. I just restart the Mifi, and we're back flying.

well my experience is turning sour fast! It looks like I'll have to go and gatkruip back at mtn and take out another 2yr data contract just to get back to what I had before!

what is the monthly cost of LTE if I may ask?

Thanks for the reply - Oddly enough though it's not a complete internet disconnect, my IRC client maintains connection throughout the day (to a local SA server), it's just to gmail.

It's happened at 11:03, 11:47, 13:03, 13:47, 14:07 so far today..

AfriGuy can you help?

My Afrihost sim, which has 'LTE' printed on it, arrived about 2 weeks ago. I then also purchased a new Huawei e3551, which I believe is identical to the 'MiFi' device Afrihost offer.

I have set the device for '3G only' but I was hoping that I would get LTE speeds as I live right in town and bang in LTE coverage according to the signal map. The device is always on orange and the download speeds are never better than 2-3Mbps..

What can I do?

Thanks

You have to contact afrihost so they can get the SIM card provisioned for LTE I also just found that today.
