Why everyday exactly from about 13H00 on to about 20H00 the Afrihost/MTN tower that serves me OR Afrihost mobile goes for a ball. Before I posted this I had no issues all morning and again at 13H00 I lost access?

I think only MTN would be able to answer that. If there is a local network issue, they'll need to investigate via their coverage team :(
 
Afrihost/MTN mobile has been utterly useless in the East Rand for the last 2 months! No matter how much I have pleaded and complained nothing has changed. Filled in a network coverage (whatever) form - TWICE. Waste of time.

I cannot wait to move into my new house and get ADSL. AH/MTN will never see me again after that...
 
Hi, I would like to know how xbox 360 online gaming would be. Tried Vodacom, its just terrible.

Cant get adsl :(

Unfortunately your best bet would be to try it since it depends on your location and well lots of circumstances that are unique to you.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get any assistance with your coverage form. If you have the reference, I can escalate this to our MTN account manager :(

It depends on the network and demand in your area. I've been getting about 10-14Mbps on 3G with about 30ms latency, which is really fantastic for 3G, but not usual. Generally we see higher latency, but LTE seems to be better for most.
 
Still getting capped with data available.

You don't seem to be able to fix this ?

Looks as if I will have to go to Axxess, data rollover also sounds good with them.

That sort of variation in speed is generally what you would see in an area with poor 3G reception.

Using an external 3G antenna can often help significantly with ensuring a more stable and consistent connection.
 
Quick question - I have a Afrihost simcard, and I popped it into my laptop, I see there's a spam SMS - I take it its not possible for WASPs to deduct data/(money) from from the simcard?

Impossible afaik. It's a data sim. So you won't even be able to load airtime.
 
Today I've encounter 2 capped pages. But most annoying is data throughput will halt out of the blue, and then I have to re-enable data? Afrihost?

Yeh - thats what I'm hoping... but what if Afrihost/MTN had some arrangement that its loaded as airtime that gets billed at a special OOB rate?

That is definitely not possible, the only service enabled on those sim cards is that data service. You will not lose any data or data value because of these messages.

Most these spam messages are from when the number was assigned to a regular cellular user, these spam messages are sent out irrespective of whether the number is active or not. You can ignore those messages, we are taking steps to ensure that these messages stop.

We are working hard with MTN to locate the exact cause of this recurring issue on their system and to permanently resolve this issue and prevent it from happening again.

Back on ADSL - too beautiful - just works. Pity, would have liked the Afrihost mobile thing to be viable - never thought I'd actually be enjoying Telkom again!
 
Took the 2+2Gig account and I have to say.. I am quite impressed.. I get 37 - 50 ms while gaming with 3G so I can only imagine LTE will be more stable. Will be testing this for November and if it continues this good I will consider upgrading to the 10+10.
