Afrihost Mobile Feedback

Delivery was within 2 business days... then again, I do not know what you had outstanding before delivery was allowed.
Neither do I, but it happened 4 times for 4 SIMs, over a period of a year, as our various contracts expired. And then there is the ridiculous R250 delivery fee...

There is just no way that I can use this as my primary service...

The airmobile delivery charge is R29.

But you had to buy cellphones that cost double the average phone price, to use the*E*-sims....
There are phones under R5000 with eSIM capabilities... There is a MyBB article about it somewhere...

Not really. Double your quote, then add 10% or more for the ridiculous price increases over the last year and your would be much closer - if you want to buy 3 to 5 year old phones

Old article… https://mybroadband.co.za/news/secu...should-say-goodbye-to-sim-and-bank-cards.html
R5900 and you can even go cheaper if you buy a CPO device.

Delivery of SIM Cards is a big issue at Afrihost.

The Courier Company Afrihost uses, 0 out of 10. If -10 out of 10 was an option to rate them, it would be more accurate.

Seeing as Afrihost do not want to acknowledge how terribly slow the delivery company they use is, maybe Afrihost should add an option for us ordering AirMobile or any service using SIM cards, where we can order services, but the processing is paused until we physically have the SIM card, then us 'the client' login to 'ClientZone' whereby we can choose an option to continue the order and processing can begin only thereafter.

On average every sim card I have ordered took 2 weeks to be delivered. Of the 11 odd services i have now, 2 weeks was the average delivery time.

Yet 'The Courier Guy' can collect and deliver items to me from CPT to PMB in 2 days and JHB to PMB overnight.
Takealot I normally receive within 36 hours.

I probably have one of the most bizarre issues. Been on Airmobile for about 2 months. All been smooth sailing and in general my data usage is minimal.

This weekend I was out of town and decided to use my mobile data that was eventually going to expire. Did nothing special, social media and general web browsing...

Then suddenly I started getting the sms and app alerts that I'm running low on data. Within a few minutes it depleted my 4.5GB of data I had left. Now with a proper connection it's very easy to burn through that amount of data especially if you dont know what you doing.

After this I topped my data up but subsequently all data topped up gets depleted within minutes.

Eventually got back on wifi and started testing.
Mobile data completley disabled and data restriction amount set to something low like 100MB....
Loaded data but it immediately gets depleted.

After this I went for worst case scenario and factory defaulted my phone.... Same scenario... Initially when I left the phone default and the default mtn apn unmodified it would stop consuming the data, but then fired up right after that.

At this stage I have No APN configured and 0MB of data left.
If I load any amount if data I just start getting usage notifications and the data gets deleted.

So I have a formatted handset set to no APN and the data usage monitor of the phone indicating zero mobile issues but somehow Afrihost is zeroing out all the data.

Offcourse contacting their support was useless as they don't believe a word I'm saying.

15GB of data gone - Can't use any mobile data.

Literally stuck at this stage.

Hi.

Please drop me a PM with the number in question.

I assume Afrihost does not have LTE packages on Vodacom's network

Is the Home Internet Packages on the Vodacom network from Axxess like the Pure LTE where routing is via jhb or cpt?

Does Axxess offer normal LTE routing?

Apologies there is no thread for Axxess

I hear Afrihost will offer Vodacom LTE soon.

Would be really good for me, MTN and Telkom are super spotty here

Main issue with MTN is the annoying routing Afrihost have, one day routes over JHB another it routes via CPT, hope they do not adopt this annoying feature on Vodacom

You should try cloudflare warp, their routing is usually must better.

Tried this but even then it goes to Cloudflare JHB or wherever Afrihost routes each day so does not make a difference unfortunately, when I use the Telkom sim from Afrihost it 99% gives me local routing to Durban

I see that the Vo WiFi and Vo LTE indicator has been on most of the time the last few days. It does go off from time to time.

I assume that testing is being carried out?

Also noticed it. Maybe testing as you say.

Oh very interesting..... Just as I signed up to Melon Mobile to test out their services.

Edit: Which devices are you using?
