Afrihost Mobile Feedback

I signed up on Tuesday for the eSim. All installed OK but I was working flat out and only got to send RICA on Wednesday.
I still can’t use it though even tho it says it’s all approved in the client portal. Making a call greets me with “your service has been suspended, contact your service provider…”
Hi.

I sent you a pm, please check.

Hello, I applied for a new sim on Tuesday and I am still waiting.
There seems to be no way to track these things...

Hi @Afrigirl How long does it take for Rica documents to be verified? Don't want the promotion to be suspended on the new eSim I got, how long does the Data and airtime last for? Tried looking and couldn't seem to find anything

Hello. I can assist to verify RICA your documents as soon as you have signed up.
Airtime is valid for 12 months. Data bundles expire at the end of the following month. You can see the expiry of these bundles in the Air Mobile app or ClientZone :-)

I did sign up and have the one sim active currently, I uploaded the RICA documents yesterday, it says you have received it :)

The Q&A on the AirMobile landing pages says the following about existing clients:

"I have an existing Air Mobile Prepaid (Pre Feb 2024) package. What happens now?

Air Mobile Prepaid (Pre Feb 2024) products use MTN SIM cards, so you must port your number to the new AirMobile MVNO."

So must I really do this and by when?

It's going away in the future.

Yes, the communication, besides the usual breathless hyperbole, and mybb paid puff pieces, has been terrible. Communicate with your existing customers properly and maybe they won't be confused and look at the other options in the market!
What needs to change, by when and why. Then make sure that you are offering them a better or at least equal service. At the moment, they are not. No monthly offering I have seen, no Afrihost Plus, no vowifi or voLTE.
The whole process just feels like a used car sales man trying to put you into a lemon.

I understand your concern.
For now, we won't automatically migrate clients because not everyone wants to port or change SIM cards; it will be voluntary for clients who want to do new signups.
We are a complete MVNO on MTN now and that will give us more flexibility and control to offer our clients more. Unfortunately, VoWifi and VoLTE have not been enabled yet, MTN will allow functionality soon on MVNOs

This is still a bit ambiguous.

"For now" meaning that at some stage it will shutdown and existing customers will have to get a new SIM?

Which I'm happy to plan for but it'd be nice to actually be told what is going on. Especially in advance of all the fanfare aimed at new customers.

You can have auto top-ups monthly. Same difference.

When porting from Air Mobile to AirMobile, will my airtime balances carry over too?

And what happens to my Afrihost Plus+

Did the product just die? Should I stop paying for it?
