Afrihost Mobile Feedback

@RMeg
@BruceA

However, we have not tested the iPhone 16 yet, so it may not be supported yet.

Edited:
It worked on the iPhone 16.
Can you please clarify what worked on the iPhone 16? Re-using the QR code or requesting an eSim swap? I still cannot activate anything, and I cannot access my old eSim. I have been without access to my simcard for a week now ... do I need to request another new QR code?

Hi. The new QR code worked. As mentioned the QR cannot be reused for now, the team still needs to works on a script for it to be re-used

Lol, enjoy the Afrihost experience, another 3 weeks or so should get you there, hopefully.

I’m actually being an optimist thinking it'll only take 3 weeks
A SIM swap only takes a couple of hours when getting a new eSIM QR code. Mine took 2 Hours a week ago when I switched from physical to eSIM.

Esim in this country is a joke still. Avoid.
Why is it so difficult though, they work fine until you need to do an eSim swop

Try do an eSim to eSIM swop, useless clowns just can't get it right.

MTN's system is not allowing for an eSIM to be moved to another device. This needs to be looked into by them. Afrigirl has said this more than once.

To get a new QR code created for the new device you just need to send a photo of you holding your ID with a piece of paper with the date on it to [email protected]
You can then give the ticket ID you get in reply to Afrigirl or the whatsapp guys and they will escalate it to the Air Mobile admin team to do it for you. It does not take long and it is not hard.

I know it is a schlep but it can be done.

Yes I've been through all that schlep and my eSIM swop is still stuck on activating, I tried for weeks to resolve it with the boneheads at Afrihost before giving up, probably the dumbest support staff I've ever dealt with. It still makes me see red thinking about it.

I am sorry for the experience you have/had. I am sure @Afrigirl can help you get it sorted.

So far I have had nothing but great service from their support team at WhatsApp.

You are lucky. My experience is that it takes 2 weeks to deliver a SIM - 1 week to provision it and another to deliver. And that is after a few interventions via the agents on this forum and raising issues via the WhatsApp group. The service is pathetic.

In my opinion, the delivery of a SIM should be handled within 24 hours. Imagine losing your phone, then waiting 2 weeks to get a replacement SIM!!!

In the words of @IamNoone... stop being a negative nelly, 2 weeks is hardly a wait :sneaky:

Hey @Afrigirl. I’m on Air Mobile with my iPhone 15 and eSIM. My cell connection goes to 3G pretty much all the time when I’m in a building (at work in Bryanston and at home in Illovo). But I know there is LTE/5G available in the work building because colleagues on MTN are on LTE/5G. To get it back to LTE/5G I have to turn flight mode on and off. And even then, it usually only lasts a few minutes before going back to 3G. It also changes to 3G whenever I make a call, which is annoying because I can’t browse the internet while waiting on the phone. Is this expected behaviour for AirMobile?
