Afrihost Mobile Feedback

Mentioned in another thread, The Gawker sites, Gizmodo.com and Jalopnik.com aren't loading either. Very strange. Switch ISPs and no problem

Our Team is getting an update shortly, hopefully this will be resolved very soon.

The cause of the issue has been identified, we're just waiting for feedback from the upstream vendor.
 
Things seem to be ok again & all the sites are loading.

Sunday morning and I'm having the same issues again.
 
International sites are not loading.
What the heck AH. DSL in cape town has been unstable for weeks, more realistically a couple of months, and now mobile. What's going on. Looks like the wheels are falling off again. :-(

The mobile issue relates to configuration changes made on the Fastly CDN. Our engineers are working with our upstream providers to get this resolved, but a lot of it relies on action taken by the engineers on Fastly's side. I do not have any further information at this point.
 
Afrihost Mobile IP Range: 192.143.xxx.xxx are all blocked by some networks. And this is getting worse.

By "All blocked" I mean that every ip, even if it changes starting with 192.143. will not be able to access certain sites, apps, etc.

This didn't bother me much, until a few weeks back when stackoverflow just didn't resolve. There are others too. A few days ago, I noticed that another site blocked this range of IP addresses. Going back, a month or two, I even remember seeing a warning that the IP address being associated with malicious activity when I tried to visit a certain developer forum.

I was actually shocked. I tested this with Linux, Windows, Andoid, etc... same story.

Now, if I remember correctly, around Aug/Sep AFrihost switched from using "Mtn Business' IPs (104.xxx.xxx.xxx) to one that now shows "airmobile.co.za" (the current 192.143.xxx.xxx). Now of the 65025 IP addresses that is in that pool of dynamic IP addresses, literally each and every one seems to be tainted, since reconnecting or refreshing the connection on Linux, Windows, even on a device like Android, does not solve the issue.

My concern is this, if serious tech-related websites, which I visit quite often, end up banning these IPs, that reflects poorly on this service. And personally, I would not want to associate myself with such IP addresses. I'm using other networks for visiting these sites now- really don't have a choice. About a month back, I also noticed that Axxess seems to associated with these IP addresses.

I feel like some bergie on the internet. LOL That's right! What is this.... hand-me-down Ips?

ANyway, if this is where things are at, and the only thing that works is Youtube, etc, there is no point for me. Speed is great, but not all of us use the internet for leisure, for some of us the internet connection must allow for visiting certain sites, like tech-related sites.

That doesn't sound right at all. What makes you think that part of our IP range is being blocked?

There has been an intermittent routing issue to some sites which we are working with our upstream vendors to correct.
 
Any chance of this being resolved soon?

It worked for a while last night and is back to being broken again. Those upstream vendors need to communicate with you so that your customers can make alternative plans if things are going to take this long to be properly resolved.

There was some progress made today, but it doens't look like the issue has been fully resolved. We'll keep pushing for updates.
 
If I connect via a VPN on my iPhone, will it bypass the Afrihost APN? i.e. Am I still properly using "Afrihost Data"?

Your data connection will still be made with Afrihost. :) Are you using a VPN app of some kind?
