Afrihost Mobile Feedback

We are receiving reports of intermittent connectivity from Mobile Data APN Clients. Our Network Team is working with our opstream providers to identify and resolve the cause of this intermittent connectivity as quickly as possible.

I have exactly the same issue. Especially when I go off WiFi. Then it takes ages to connect to 4G.

I'm really sorry we missed this thread and didn't respond :(

We did have an APN issue that was intermittently affecting some clients using Mobile Data. We believe the issue has been fully resolved, and we're monitoring closely to make sure it doesn't come back.

I switched to normal MTN APN while the afrihost APN was down and lost a R100 within minutes (that was supposed to be my months airtime). Shows how these mobile companies rob us. :sick:. :mad: Glad Afrihost APN is working again.

I have a Cell C prepaid number that I want to port to MTN prepaid.

I would then like to buy Afrihost data bundles on a monthly basis but use MTN prepaid airtime to make calls/ send sms.

As far as I understand with the Afrihost Data+Cellular deals, the airtime expires everymonth. So I would just like to get data from Afrohost and use MTN airtime to make calls seeing that the MTN airtime would not expire.

So ideally I'd like to load R100 MTN airtime to use for calls. This should last me theoretically for say +-2 months seeing that I hardly make calls.

Then I want to get 2gig of data per month using the Afrihost APN.

Is this possible on MTN Prepaid.

Definitely! :) You can either opt for these Mobile Data packages which are month to month packages. So you will receive that set amount of data every month.

You can alternatively also look at one of our PrePaid Mobile Data Packages the data on these packages last for a full year, and you then just add data as you need. :)
 
Does Afrihost restrict VoIP / SIP protocols over your mobile data?

When my APN is set to afrihost and I try connect to my iConnect softphone app and keep getting connection error. If I change the APN to mymtn and try agin it connects with no issues.

Hi there :) We do not at all, in a situation like this it may be the app blocking the APN IP, can you run a traceroute so we can determine if this is the case?

But works with the mymtn APN, this indicates it’s the afrihost APN that’s the issue.
 
After 2 years an 1 month I bid a farewell to afrihost, it's rather sad to see you go, you have had good service and only now and then had network issues.Unfortunately your mobile data bundles no longer offers the value I seek as my primary access to the internet.

Moved over to MTN contract. Unfortunately have no access to fixed LTE, or fixed line internet, otherwise I would have stuck around, even with afrihost plus you couldn't beat the offer from MTN for 40gigs at R299.00.

I asked a few times already when you guys were going to add night express bundles to your services, would have added better value and a reason to make use of your services better.Didn't entirely leave you, downgraded R58.00 package, and canceled afrihost+, poping that into dual sim my phone, data is more then enough for my phone ;)

Wow! I must say that is an awesome deal! I totally understand your choice! I am glad that you are still going to be around as a client!

Seems like a data usage spike on 01 Jan that's irregular I'd like to get checked.

I am online. There has been an issue with some of the data usage readings. Please send me a PM with the affected number and I will look into this for you. It should be a quick fix.
