Afrihost Mobile Feedback

Please help me, Afrihost Support.
On 23rd May I started an email support request for help to port an Afrihost SIM card number to the eSIM on a new phone. The problem is not yet resolved. I have the Ticket reference numbers and more detail to PM to the Rep that responds to this post.

Hi.

Where was the SIM card used?
Was it an Afrihost SIM or MTN prepaid?

Hi.

Was it an Afrihost SIM or MTN prepaid?
it's a MTN Prepaid sim. Spoke to technical support earlier, said they re provisioned the sim, but still have zero signal. I guess the number is now gone :(

Your best bet would be to go to an MTN store to get help.

Number is recycled and is a gonner.

So update on the situation. Went to MTN store, and was first met with I need to talk with Afrihost, bla bla bla. Eventually told the guy behind the counter to go call his manager, who seemed to understand the difference between MTN with Afrihost APN vs AirMobile.

Did a bit of digging and found out that on Tuesday, a sim swop was performed. And they somehow were able to bypass security measures such as OTP or whatever they got in place.

That happened to a colleague too. His SIM was ported to Cell C. He had to run between the networks to get his number back again.

I asked the manager about the OTP needed to confirm the sim swop, mumbled something about it being done online, and somehow that/they can bypass that o_O

@Afrigirl Can you help me with support ticket OAL-690-43960, as its been a game of ping pong for the 2 weeks?

Essentially, I'm unable to connect to any of my devices (Router or Home Assistant) on my home network, via any of my 3x Afrihost SIM cards. At home, I have an Afrihost fiber line, with IPv4 public IP.

I can connect to my home network via any other connection, such as my Vodacom and MTN SIM cards, and all WiFi points I've encountered. However, when trying to do so with an AfriHost mobile, I can't even get a ping back. A traceroute from an Afrihost Mobile sim card, doesn't get me anywhere past 100.127.2.175.

It looks like there may be a routing issue, between the AirMobile network, and the fiber network, perhaps specifc to those who have been assigned a public IP.

Can I please get this ticket looked at it’s almost a week and I called 5G is being throttled yet usage is maybe 300-400GB

Got this ticket GDX-353-56334

Support is useless with this client is annoyed and I’m trying to help them

Hi.
It could be a routing issue between the IP ranges because both packages are on our network, and you should be able to connect without any issues.
Asking the team to investigate.

Hi.

It was logged with MTN and I have followed up for feedback with the team.

Hi @Afrigirl . I am emailing your support team and keep getting told that the Airmobile team will email me. Well surprise surprise, it ain't happening.
Please PM me a phone number so I, the customer, can make the effort to speak to this glorious Airmobile team.
I thank you.
