Pleasure, visiting family. Going to have high expectations when I come back to South Africa :D
(considering the cost for this line at my grandparents' house is 19 EUR/month for 8Mbps uncapped, and I mean truly uncapped)

What?! That's bonkers! Was that ADSL or Fibre?

ADSL, sadly not in the city. These are the prices for A1: https://www.a1.net/internet/festnetz-internet/tarife/s/internet-pur
They're not the cheapest but using them as it would be too much of a hassle to change. My uncle in Vienna is on a 250/100Mbps line + TV (think 300 channels? Sky channels, Orf etc.) + 1000 minutes outside of continent and unlimited calls within Europe for about 70 EUR/month, I think he gets a mobile phone as well. He's on another provider, not sure which one though.

At least Frogfoot is soon going to start rolling out in Table View, R999 for 100/50Mbps uncapped unshaped. Are you guys going to talk with Frogfoot to get your product offered there? If you guys can match the price I'd sign up with you instantly once they roll out, I like your support. :D

And here I sit with my measly 4mb ADSL line at nearly 800 bucks:cry:

There are certainly plans afoot...

Well, in Cape Town with Afrihost it's R668 + R190 odd for line rental for 10Mbps 150GB Capped with Afrihost here, I would really like to up my speed but Telkom infrastructure. :(

Would do anything to have 10mb. But telkom infrastructure:cry:

It doesn't look like Telkom will be doing too many more widespread ADSL upgrades in the near future, I hope that does mean that you get access to FTTH soon.

Hope so too, have seen a few teams in town with huge rolls of green, orange and grey cables. And telkom techs don't know about any fiber roll outs.

I see what you did there ;)
Dear Residents
The start of the construction of our Fibre-to-the-home network in Zone 1 will commence soon!
To get you ready for what is to come, the Table View CPF, The Greater Table View Fibre Initiative and Frogfoot Networks invite you to the July CPF Meeting!
Frogfoot Networks will be doing a presentation to update the residents on everything FTTH. Here you’ll have the opportunity to interact with us and ask questions about all things FTTH. This is also an opportunity for you to engage with the Internet Service Providers that will be offering services on the network.
The Internet Service Providers will be available from 6pm to answer any package related queries.
WHEN: 28th July 2016

Seems there's a meeting in a week about the fiber stuff, ISPs should also attend. Please get it sorted out soon, sadly I am not in Zone 1 :(

That sounds promising! It may not be Telkom rolling out the Fibre, there are quite a few companies aggressively targeting areas that Telkom won't be rolling out fibre to in the short- to medium-term.

Seeing that you are having this fibre talk and I have been wanting to ask in the forum, I am currently on 10MB with Afrihost, SA Digital Village have rolled out fibre in my area, so how do I use Afrihost fibre if Telkom are not the ones installing fibre in the area.

We're still confirming our fibre offerings around line providers :)
Should have more info on this soon though!
