Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

just because you having an issue, doesnt mean everybody else is. Im okay, and im also in Cape Town using a capped account. All this "Afrihost is not the company it once was" is a bit overly dramatic. As i said in a previous post, go onto the Web Africa, Vox, MWEB etc threads, and come back and tell me if everything is rosy over there. Every single ISP has been having issues, not just Afrihost.

The gents from Afrihost on here has been nothing short of superb, actively trying to assist as best as they can in a decent and professional manner.

You can now have a go back at me :D
I hear you and agree that different people have different experiences.

The sad thing is that I was a big fan of them years ago and put loads of clients onto them only for it to backfire when the network problems started.

I would like to think I am a reasonable person and would not spitefully write of a provider just because they wronged me once.
Afrihost lost my respect and trust due to the 100's of people reporting the same issues as I and my clients were experiencing - quite happily taking our money (for which to date no compensation has been made) for months whilst they knew they were unable to deliver the services they were charging for.

As this is the wrong thread I won't even go in to their hosting issues ;-)

To summarise - in my insignificant opinion I suggest for people who are reaching the same level of frustration as I experienced with AH in the past to vote with their wallets.

If it's a routing issue, using a different username won't result in change in performance. We'll need to get our Upstream providers to either update the routing, or implement an alternative.

So this routing issue, it would seem to affect everyone on the same ESR?
I hope it won't take weeks to fix the problem?

Have you created a ticket, as previously requested?
That's really the only way forward here.

EDIT: I see you're with our Critical Care team, please continue to communicate with them.

Any Afripeeps around? I need a port reset on my line. Getting some horrible results... :(

Never mind - seems to have sorted itself out.

Ive got 6 Days and 20Hours uptime on my router, how much more until ASSIA puts me on fast path? :erm:

I have no clue what's happening at the moment but net is moving at a crawl, as in I can barely open sites (local and int.). I also just got a "Too long to respond" error on the afrihost site. You guys having any issue sin Durban at the moment?

Links in DBN look good on my end :)
Is there a traceroute I can take a look at?

Lol ASSIA wil not put you on fast path, unless a telkom support tech does it manully for you :)

If it detects that you have a crappy line it should put you on Interleaved mode and then after a few days the "fault" has been fixed and it should detect a good line then put you on Fast Path.

Lmfao who told you that ???....ASSIA is there to stay, unless Telkom removes it manually .

I was under the impression that it optimises your line based on its statistics, why would a good line be put on interleaved?

ASSIA won't change your mode, it'll always be on interleaved as long as you're running via ASSIA - of which most of SA is.

Is the telkom guys you speak to able to remove it from my profile?

Nope, thats not the case...You have be added to the exclusion list for that to happen :)...its telkoms new method of line monitoring, ASSIA DSM is here to stay.
