Honest question. If I read that report right it said it affected all of 8 telephone numbers. Why would this be affecting many people on clareinch and others in Cape Town who don't even connect to this exchange?
It is not 8 telephone numbers... it is all telephone numbers starting with those prefixes, spread over 3 different exchanges - a total of 1037 subscribers (see below).

That was only the one notice that I found; there could be more.

Ah so I did misunderstand it.

I was disconnected from overwatch a couple of times last night and I connect to the clareinch exchange but my number isn't listed there sadly.

Thanks for explaining.

Whatever happened last night in the general Cape Town area was not limited to a single ISP. I've seen posts about it in the Afrihost, MWeb, Crystal Web and Telkom Internet threads.

And being that they use different upstream providers, this points a finger very squarely at Openserve.

I'm seeing packet loss in local gaming quake servers today.

Happy Monday guys! :) Sorry to hear about these widespread Telkom issues for the folks in Capetown. We saw a large influx of complaints over the weekend. Looks like everything is back to normal today.

Our 4MB/s business premium uncapped line is maxing out at 2MB/s since the problems experienced previously

Not cool! :( Please PM me your line number and I'll check it out for you.

Had a discussion with an OpenServe Executive last week around how OpenServe intends or is ensuring ALL ISPs are informed of work on the network. Seems there is a bit of a problem in disseminating information about planned maintenance, new construction work and cut overs to new infrastructure at the moment.

What is needed here is for ISPs to apply a bit of pressure ........

I feel like this has been the intention for years...

Apart from the SAIX Noticeboard, there hasn't really been much progress. We'll definitely continue to work with Openserve to improve the communication between us and them.

So at least you know how we feel when your notice board is not updated :)
