Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

How much of this high latency can be attributed to the 18 hours a day free data?
Its annoying i wont lie. I havent used my AH account in a few months and have accumulated a fair amount of data. The one night i decide to use it for gaming and bam +300 ms latency to EU servers.

I gather you have reported this to the network team, how fast do you think we will have feedback? I know i'm not the only one having issues as confirmed here by other forumites and also by a few online friends last night. Please keep us updated

I have no idea whats going on.

I had a chat with one of your guys and somehow my 10Mbps line was magically syncing at 6Mbps the last time it was syncing at around 8Mbps and he had to do something on his side to "fix" it.

It was suggested that I downgrade to the 8Mbps line from 10Mbps and its still syncing at 6Mbps and even still at 6Mbps the connection is so slow at times. I thought moving everything over to afrihost would have been a better option and that I would receive much better service but how can that be when my line keeps getting downgraded and nothing being done about it?

I get that you have reported this before, but neither Mweb or our team are going to be able to use historical data, becuase things could have been changed several times in terms of policies and management. So we always need current data to work with.
 
Just a quick request for the guys seeing issues with Mweb.

We've logged a request with Mweb and they have asked for the following:

1. Your external IP
2. the site you are trying to reach
3. Current trace route.

If you could please PM that to me ASAP, we'll feedback to Mweb ASAP.
 
@Afriteam, If i see that my line stats are degrading over time is telkom at liberty to fix it?

I doubt that it's related to free-time becuase it seems like latency seems to be higher during peak hours when free-time doesn't apply. Also only seems to be on international, which means that it's not likely to be related.

I've asked our guys to monitor and let us know if they pick up anything :(

I had a chat with one of your guys and somehow my 10Mbps line was magically syncing at 6Mbps the last time it was syncing at around 8Mbps and he had to do something on his side to "fix" it.

It was suggested that I downgrade to the 8Mbps line from 10Mbps and its still syncing at 6Mbps and even still at 6Mbps the connection is so slow at times. I thought moving everything over to afrihost would have been a better option and that I would receive much better service but how can that be when my line keeps getting downgraded and nothing being done about it?

Hey Dwayno

It sounds like ASSIA (Telkom's automated profile management system) is setting your sync profile lower because your stats seem to be too poor to support higher speeds. If you're still seeing slow speeds on 6Mbps, that's very concerning and we'll need to look a how far you are from the exchange and the quality of the infrastructure in your area :(

Please drop me a PM so I can check out your line and refer this to one of our teams :(

Thanks, I'm really hoping that its sorted by this evening. Cause in all honesty this is not a good start to come back to AH and then sit with this issue.
