I'm really not sure. My Business account is running well at the moment.
As our Critical Care team have a history with your query, I'd strongly recommend posing this questions to them for a deeper look into.
I have been but nothing permanent comes from it. This has been an on and off issue for the last 2 months.

Please continue to troubleshoot this with our Critical Care team as they're heading up your query.
For how long? At some point enough is enough. I work all day and my internet is s*** at night when I actually want to use it. As you are well aware only recently was my exchange upgraded and now I have to deal with this.
This really is not on.

Should error packets on my line be a concern? My router shows 2 up and 640 down, this built up over a 12 hour period. I can't see any more info regarding this so don't really know what to make of it. Overall my line seams very stable and I'm enjoying my new 10 MB line sync which I finally have after 2 months of struggling to get it fixed.

Heya guys

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and keep everyone on the same page.

First off, I'm really sorry about the poor experience and mixed comms from our end yesterday. I know it sucks, but I can promise you - we're all hands on deck.

So we saw huge, and by huge I mean the majority of our IPC traffic huge, demand pick up yesterday which have been attributed MS updates. The demand lasted until around 23:00 last night.
Our team did do their best to provide the best possible experience to everyone, and will continue to do so. Unfortunately it's simply not feasible to have such a large amount of IPC capacity available to cover these kind of update demands without incurring costs well into the millions of Rands.

Demand does seem to have stabilised, and we're doing our absolute best to better prep for bigger OS updates and general demand on the network going forward :)

Unfortunately I kinda share the sentiments of Anagram.

............. I understand things happen , but I have reached the point of coming on to forum to complain , and no one at Afrihost acknowledges the problem , and we start the round of testing and sending results and on and on we go. All i really want to do is game online

Especially in the case where one do not troll the forums on a frequent basis with unfounded complaints and comments regarding lags and dc's. Yet on the occasions when one do experience bad performance from your ISP and log your results on this forum ........ they are always met with denial of anything wrong on the AH network to the extend that one questions your own ability to firstly troubleshoot on your own end.

To be brutally honest, when I do have these sporadic issues (every 2-3 months), I am rather reluctant to post on this thread, mainly because it is seemingly a major issue to get AH to acknowledge that something could be possibly wrong on their end.

This doesn't look like a fwide-spread issue. I'm assuming the game is called Perfect World? Are you seeing your internet connection drop-out or only the connection to the game servers?

I fully understand that AH do not want to spend hours troubleshooting reported issues merely to discover that the problem is on the end user's side of things, but it would be appreciated if AH would also acknowledge that this is a two way street and similarly the end user do not always have the time or energy to spend days on end proving that the issue is not on our end (seems to be a catch 22 situation).

Anyways, this is my QQ for today ;)

In general, all is not totally bad. When the network is performing, being an AH client is pretty awesum (the only real complaint I have is the hoops one have to jump through to get AH to acknowledge that there is a slight possibility that their network is performing poorly at times).

Windows update occur on the second Tuesday of each Month. For us in SA that means late Tuesday afternoon evening running into Wednesday. By Thursday (yesterday) the peak Windows updates would have been over ......

I think we can all confirm that there was a massive surge in traffic yesterday ( even access to this forum slowed down yesterday afternoon), it is not only due to Windows updates. In fact my Windows update ran extremely smoothly this time round on Tuesday evening, lasting for nothing out of the ordinary.

The next real big Windows event takes place on the 2nd August which the release of a new build ........

If it's not affecting your overall experience I wouldn't worry too much about, if that's 640 packets lost down and 2 packets lost uploading - I'll need to check which modem you're using before I can say 100% for sure - it's really not much.

I would keep an eye on it from time to time, just to make sure it doesn't spike too much.

I would keep a close eye on that, ASSIA causes ES "error packets", especially when it detects a small to large amount of SNR fluctuation. Happened to me as well, a few days later my line started to drop.

We're pretty sure that the extra demand we saw was generated by the Windows updates, I'm super-glad that your updates went smoothly, but overall when taking our entire Client-base into account there was a definite affect on the network. We'll be looking at ways of handling the additional bandwidth demands to see if there is any way to ensure this doesn't happen again, or at least the impact is minimized.

Does anyone else have problems with Facebook Video's which sometimes buffer, and sometimes play smoothly?

I've only noticed this myself when Facebook tries to automatically change the quality of the videos. How often is this happening for you?

If you have any unusual experiences, please do post it here! It really helps us to figure out if it's a local issue or a more widespread issue.

We're having a look at the way we handle these types of situations, hopefully in future, we can work together to quickly identify and rectify the issue.

Just arrived home now and sure thing my line speed dropped. Now syncing at 7 MB down again but still 1 MB up.
I had 2 great ASSIA free days thanks Telkom.

Never posted my results or any screenshots so no proof to show Telkom that my line hapilly synced at 10 MB without ASSIA's interfearance.

lol it's a b1tch I know, that's why I fought to get that K@K removed from my line.

Cancelled service and moving on

The support from Afrihost in an email this morning starts off by telling me that EvE online has 2 primary servers , and the rest are backups , well then I just laughed and made the decision to move elsewhere.
I don't expect any or every support staff to know the ins and outs of every game server , I don't know the 1st thing about the WoW servers for example , but to confidently state your ignorance as fact , well that's something else.

Played all last night on the CrystalWeb trial account , not a glitch , no packet loss at all. Despite it being 10 mb account on my 40 FttH it was smooth.

Kudos to the consultant who helped me on the phone to end my service , he gave me the real service I was expecting from the rest of Afrihost.
As I currently have 500 GB data , account will only expire end August , which again is a nice touch, but not much use if I keep on getting a disconnect.
