Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Finally got adsl sorted after 2 and a half months :)

Though now having some speed issues. I logged the fault on Wednesday. I'm suppose to have 8mbps speed but only getting about 4mbps.

The person I spoke to said they logged fault with Telkom to get them to resync the line to 8mbps. I also did tests yesterday with an Afrihost tech but so far I've had no change.

Still only getting about 4mbps speed.

Did the person say that Telkom set the speed down purposely? It may have been part of how they resolved the fault :(

Nope. The reason I couldn't get an adsl line initially is because there were no ports available at the exchange but since they have upgraded the exchange.

The person didn't say anything about why they speed is down. He assumed that Telkom hadn't changed it to the correct speed. But I've received no feedback as yet on it.

Sometimes the line won't sync on the higher speeds, but Telkom should give you or Afrihost that feedback :(

Well from what Telkom said before the line can sync up to 10mbps so I don't think that's the problem.

I received an email from afrihost saying that because of the public holiday I suppose to get feedback today but haven't received any as yet.

AfriMan please help, i cant game anymore. I have a mikrotik router and can manage queues and throttle other users. I believe I know what im doing...hopefully.

I have high latencies to all game servers. Dota is becomming unplayable. Im getting 200ms pings with about 2% packet loss.

Please help.

That doesn't sound good at all. Can you please run a traceroute with no services running in the background?
 
Hey Afriman. You manage to get any feedback or figure out what the problem with my speed is?
 
Could be wrong, but that looks like ASSIA DSM.

I know, I love the ASSIA system. It performed magic for me. It took my 10Mb line and morphed it into a 6.3Mb line. I love it!

EDIT: It performed wonders for my 5ms ping aswell. And looks how that turned out.
 
So I have no Internet, I requested a line upgrade on Wednesday. I don't know if it's related??
 
Having constant ping spikes in the evenings around 19:30 onward on my Afrihost account. No problems on Telkom.

Vox fatpipe is starting to look good again. Waiting to see their price cuts.
