Telkom account:

That's not good at all. :(

Are you consistently getting that sort of latency? It looks like it may be your line or Exchange.

Not sure what's changed in the last few weeks but by line speed is now slower. Where I used to get 3.6Mbit actual speed, I'm now only getting 3.3. Has something changed?

Nothing on our side that I'm aware of. Has there been any increases in latency?

That's not good at all. There shouldn't be that sort of discrepancy, are you still getting that today?

Not that I can tell. It's very weird. Line speed just will not go past 3.3 whereas before I was at 3.5/3.6. Surely it can't be that interleave/FastPath ASSIA-managed system since my router shows it's still on FastPath and the SNR margin hasn't changed from 21dB.

Any thoughts on what Telkom could've done?

The last week I am having the same problem. Was sent to Telkom from the Afrihost side. Contacted Telkom and they see no issues. Line became better and speedtest is fine and everything works fine except all torrents are downloading at 20-30kb

Exact same speeds 30kbps...

After hours full speed. So if I leave my torrents to run overnight they will be done in the morning....

So afrihost... Just give us the truth regarding torrents...

The only accounts that will have their P2P and HTTP downloads shaped are the Home Uncapped and Premium Uncapped products. How many seeds are online for the torrents in question? Is this happening with all of your torrents or only some?

and my internet is down again... This will teach me to never ever log a fault with Telkom again. speeds of 0.5mbps on a 20mbps line is ridiculous. I think its time to pack up the adsl thing, and look at signing up to the LTE offer

I have premium uncapped... But wasn't aware this was ever shaped. Is this shaping policy something recent that has been applied. Sure when I signed up the shaping only takes place if the network is under strain

Can you PM me your DSL Line number quickly, let me see what I can find out.

:(

Is there a fault in your area? Or is it a fault on your DSL line?

I'm also leaning that way with the issues I'm having the last few weeks with my ADSL line. I'm just still very skeptical about the performance of the LTE deal in the long run, once you sign the 24 month contract Telkom pretty much have you by the short and curlies.

its also my worry re the LTE deal and that 24 month part. That to me is the main issue, but then again, to log a fault 8 times in a 6 month period is ridiculous.

Not today yet..it generally happens in the evenings which I'm guessing is peak time. At the moment it's perfect

Our Premium Uncapped accounts have always been a shaped service, the shaping on P2P and HTTP downloads will only kick in when the demand for bandwidth is high.

There is no set time or duration for when the shaping will take affect, as it's applied dynamically.

Im still waiting for dat boi (Gian) to upgrade us 1Meg business plebs to 2Meg since Telkom cut the IPC price.

My profile though always shows 100% no shaping... But I def feel like km. Being shaped with the 30kbps downloads

so what is happening on the Afrihost side with regards to the IPC cuts? Im just talking out loud, because apart from Vox, nobody else seems to have done anything really.
