Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

I went through the exact same thing.
Our IMAX had a 8mbps ATM link and we had 100 active DSL ports in the area.
So the Internet was useless to say the least. After 1 year of fighting Telkom tooth and nail, even getting ICASA involved. All 100 of us had logged faults. We finally got a 1gbps ME link to the IMAX, my next fight is VDSL which is proving rather difficult.

Yeah Unlikely hey unless Telkom identified your area as a area which they will make money on I don't think Openserve will invest in a ISAM unit unless they know they will get their money back.

ME backhaul for the dslam or imax usually means 20Mbps is available even if the checker says only 10Mbps it usually has 20Mbps. There can only be 1 obstacle in your way to 20Mbps adsl2+ The DP if it's old then yeah you pretty screwed on that too.

Our area has 20mbps ADSL. I have 12 lines, and the DP luckily can handle it. But I just hope and pray I see 40mbps VDSL. I am 300meters (copper length) from the exchange. So if someone would just drop a ISAM/MSAN here I would be smiling. But there is a good chance as man, I might fall pregnant before that ever happens.

But look at he packed loos and the manny hops Afrihost take comparison to telkom

It's important to remember that seeing packet loss on a traceroute or MTR doesn't mean that the TCP / UDP traffic is experiencing the exact same packet loss. ICMP traffic has the lowest priority, network routers and switches will drop ICMP traffic as needed.

Routing can differ significantly from network to network, it's entirely that Telkom displays two or three hops as one. You should judge the different network based on the experience that you have on each network.
