Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Oh btw i was also having slow browsing last night on 169.1.1.1 and 169.1.1.3 as primary and secondary DNS. Changing to open DNS made it a bit better. I notice if im on the Afrihost DNS its a bit slower than when i set it to 8.8.8.8 etc.

Any ideas why?

Are your DNS lookups slow, or does browsing just feel sluggish?

A bit of both. At times your DNS works great, then it just renders pages slow or opens them up a bit slowly. Switching DNS then improves it again. So im basically switching to get the best possible experience.

Ill run some tests tonight, as its our day of Eid after the month of fasting :) so i feel like Afrihost eating all day lol :D

Coolios, keep me posted!
Eid Mubarak :)

Before i go AG, your twitter account person said we should get some good news soon from Gian. Is it near in terms of any announcements re ipc cuts etc?

Im also at the mercy of Telkom with congestion and basically old infrastructure. Its frustrating, but there is literally no point in getting upset over it. All i do is make them aware as often as possible, which isnt always good because they have on so many occasions cut my line.

But can you use your internet at times? Because I can not at all for the past few days. its too slow to access anything and traceroute are all in the 1000's constantly.

I also have almost all my GB's from last month still left.

Latency that high will create a pretty terrible experience across the board.

2 weeks down, 2 weeks on and BAM down again. Saw Telkom dicking around on the pole outside and down is the line. No Telkom guy in sight. Afriguy, ive sent you a PM. Please check up on this. So tired of this @#$

Just replied to your PM, far too many line errors here.
Let's chat via PM.

Caught the tech fiddling on the pole. Informed him that his "maintenance" has broken my line. The line is up again. Could have been quite the mission (10 days min with a weekend in between) for them to have sorted it if I didnt catch the tech on the pole.

Great to hear you're back up and running.

Thanks for the test results! I'll pass these onto our Team to have a look at.

Just an update, I found out our line was running interleaved mode, I already managed to get Telkom to put it back on fastpath (Shout out to TelkomZA Twitter guys.)

This seems to have resolved the excess latency on the Local side, meaning the CSGO servers

However the problem with World of Warcraft still remains, and it is specific to Afrihost and those servers as my normal international latency to EU is fine.
