Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Routing is quote different between AFriH and AfriG if you look at the above traces I have posted.

If the port was reset - why did the hop come down to 12ms suddenly and then go back to +500ms or trace 2?

If the exchange was congested I would never get 12ms on the DSLAM.

Routing is exactly the same between the two traceroutes, the 2nd just repeated a hop when you reached our website cluster. We don't run multiple networks, so everything from radius to routing is done on one network for both @afrihost.co.za and @afrigreen accounts.

Congestion can happen for a number of reasons, and a port reset is known to ease congestion temporarily.

Anyway, are you able to replicate the results using another ISP?

@DeSLAM are you still using the afrihost green and normal uncapped accounts? eg both ? the reason i ask is the green one is the only one you should be using unless its the payasyougo account you referring to.. just my 5c worth/

you can get a free 1gig account from webafrica to test.

Never got a notice from Afrihost about that - explain>

As clientzone still shows both AfriH and AfriG accounts as 2 seperate logins. That never changed.

Must be kids hogging the exchange bandwidth after all, or Telkom wasn't prepared to admit they are having a problem with the same exchange AGAIN.

Finally started stabilising now....

But man, it stuffs up a workday.

Not sure if you saw my post above? Both accounts are exactly the same.
Afrigreen is simply an alias to the main account and has no differences.

Looking much better!
Still not really sure where you're seeing different routing though?

@AfriGuy however I was having slow-ness issues and a guy at Afrihost told me its cos i was on the old network and advised me to only use the new one aka the green one.
Mr AfriGuy can explain better than me but im guessing its the old network that was giving issues which may be why you currently having issues.

Also, as you still actively usiing both or so it would seem they have most likely still kept both active and of course each one has its own data management logs. Ive requested for them to remove the old one and only have the current but back up any logs you may want as they will be removed if you havent once the remove the old account..

That was the case many moons ago. We've since migrated to the new network.

AfriMan,

Could you please assist me with this matter. I've tried contacting the support department but they were quite unhelpful to say the least. :(

Is there any way I can draw a detailed usage history report that includes the time of day that my bandwidth was used? I'm aware of the CSV file that details the dates and their respective usage, but I would like to see at what time of day my data is being used. Could you please advise on this?

Thanks a lot.

sorry about that.

@AfriGuy i just replied to your msg sorry only saw it now.

Happy to help :)
I'm pretty sure the info from ClientZone pulls straight from our servers though. But shoot me a PM with your DSL username and I'll see what I can dig up for you.

Good news Afri People, give us good news man lol... and no im not talking about new food you guys are getting :D

Still can't access Mweb sites?

I'm also having trouble seeing mweb sites this afternoon here in Amanzimtoti, i even checked MWEB gaming servers for BF4 and usually they are on 40-50 ping. They are sitting over 120 at the the moment. Internationals also - ping went up by about 40ms since this morning.

Sorry to hear :(
Interested in taking a look at some tests to see where the issues are coming in - can you post a traceroute here please?
