Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

I have a suggestion AfriGuy. If it is possible to strike a deal with hotspot wifi providers like AlwaysOn or Vast networks, please do! In fact if you can offer the data wallet through hotspot providers since mobile data is quite expensive that would be great. In Durban there's a lot of wifi hotspots but only 50MB use available :(

Please check if this option is viable. Thanks again! :)

We used to have WiFi options, however we recently moved away from this :(
Our Mobile options are quite a good alternative though.

This is fcking confusing

Why can't you just all of it together?

Sorry to hear. We separate data links so you can see what's what.
I'm quite surprised to see you've purchased an account with us though, I was under the impression you were extremely unhappy with us previously?

Streaming seriously bad again this weekend. Don't know if it's the new google cache server or changes made to the system for this new free time data but something has definitely changed for the worse starting last weekend.

Sorry about that :(
What streaming services are/ were affected for you?

Pretty much everything is 384 speed for me...

Anything using cloudfare bugs out all the time, including mybb

Doesn't sound like a good experience :(
Not seeing any trending issues around CloudFlare specific sites though - any tests I can take a look at?

Afrihost, what did you do with your routing of international traffic from Cape Town. I used to get 160 -180ms while gaming on European servers. Now I get 200+ms. and just to be clear, the lower latency is the reason I joined you guys a few months back. How can I be satisfied with you guys when I get the same latency as on the Telkom Network.

Tracing route to 185.40.65.1 over a maximum of 30 hops

-snip

why is "if-ae-7-0.tcore2.KLT-Cape-Town.as6453.net [41.206.165.25] " so high?

Are they routing Cpt traffic to Jhb and then back to Cpt onto the international links? it seems that's what's happening.

Routing hasn't changed :)
Some of those hop names are deceptive though, they aren't local.

Morning all :)

We're seeing much better throughput to Google services on our new cache box!
If you are still seeing issues on YouTube specifically, please post the video URL and resolution you're watching at.

Thanks.

It's the strangest thing, direct http links and speedtest works fine but everything else has trouble.

Anything that uses cloudfare. bakabt and mybb being examples... maybe my ports need to be reset/etc?
This started just before the weekend I think.

Hhhmm, I wonder if CloudFlare's flagged your IP.
Have you tried rebooting your modem to have another IP assigned?

Was streaming BBC last night and quality was awful.Switched over to Vox and there was a significant improvement.I sincerely hope this isnt a sign of things to come with the latest price cuts/free data.

This is in no way related.
Are there any tests I can take a look at?

Everything seems to have improved here in Cape Town :)

Is there a reason customers weren't informed of what was happening and told to expect some slowness during the process? Probably would've avoided a lot of confusion.
