Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Ok, while all seems to be fine, streaming is still an issue for me since you introduced this double data and free time. During free time streaming is better but as soon as the clock passes 6pm, streaming is up to crapper, I thought things will get better but it is a daily thing now since free time intro. But when i switch to my vox bolt-on account, the streaming is super excellent, so def is not my line, I am on a 20MB line speed. Can someone look into this please.

Hi

Any tests I can take a look at?
Are there specific services/ sites that are affected for you?

Hi
I am not home at the moment, it is my smart TV app IPTV that is affected.
Thats a very hit and miss thing to be very honest with you. Ie IPTV

Do you have an Android Media player or Apple Tv tp test how things are? Have your changed your DNS?

@Afriguy, right. moved to here to make it easier to track. As of this morning though my ticket (on clientzone) has disappeared on my end. ticket ref is #ZLE-591-31492

Definitely seems like I'm not the only one struggling with twitch/international streaming in the evenings, as well as gaming latency spikes (I'm on a capped account).

Hhhmm, any troubleshooting or speedtest type apps you can run from the TV itself?

I am not sure I follow, other apps like Netflix, youtube and showmax seems to be fine, except the IPTV app. But like I said when I connect using VOX bolt-on, it plays better, so ya I don't know. I can run any speedtest as I am not at home at the moment.

Morning

Thanks, I see the ticket is pending feedback from our NOC team.
There aren't any general issues from our end though, we'll need to run through a protocol at a time - gaming and streaming are very different.

I see our team provided you with a test account, not sure what the experience was like there?

Either way, are you able to paste some tests here so I can review them?

Could be that the app itself requires more bandwidth? Do they have a test IP available or some form of standard testing you can run through?

Probably does need more bandwith, just that the two ISP are performing differently. I am not sure if there is a test IP, I merely installed the app and stream directly from the TV.

Mind PM'ing me a bit more detail about the app? I'll do some digging from there to see what I can find to help us better troubleshoot this.

If I had access to my ticket I'd be able to copy paste my original thread where i detail that this is happening on 2 DSL lines located in 2 different areas (rules out the "oh its your exchange" excuse), and I can confirm it does NOT do it when I switch to an IS-based account. pings and straight browser downloads are not affected, so there isn't any real difference in those between different accounts (except Sunday, which I reported and pasted a big wall of text into clientzone).

Also, the first test account provided to me didn't even work. Couldn't load afrihost page properly. So I'd rather continue testing with my companies test account whenever Afrihost chugs down.

IPTV performs differently to that of Netflix and Youtube... Both Netflix and Youtube have dedicated servers, which allows for much more traffic to pass through it, while that IPTV app probably doesnt.

I don't think anyone is blaming your exchange here, but we do need to see some test data on what's going wrong and where.
