Did some random tests this morning just for interest sake... Ookla speedtest results were all over the place but got consistent results with MyBB speedtests

Just a question: Why does the 2nd hop time out on the trace routes? (not in the know just to gain some more knowledge)

Results look solid, not sure why Ookla is giving you such a weird result though, 200ms for local is pretty bleak. Have you tried another server from the same area?

For those timeouts, Telkom upgraded the ESRs to newer tech and set the BRAS to not accept ICMP. I'm really not sure about the reasoning though.

Tried different servers with Ookla but still a mixed bag and it doesn't reflect the awesome performance I'm getting...but like I said, was just for interest sake.

Everything's flying! Actually able to stream YouTube @1080p whole day up until 6pm with a slight buffer every +-3 mins or so, which for me is totally acceptable on a 2mb line

Awesome work Afrihost!

I am still using Mweb Google Cache servers?

169.0.235.57 => mweb-jnb2 (169.0.235.0/24)

Have you tried dropping your connection? Getting a new IP should route you via our cache.

EDIT: Seems like there's only a cache in CPT for now. If content doesn't exist on our cache it'll pull from another though.

Awesome to hear it :D

Afrihost, it seems like our neighborhood will be getting Fibre infrastructure from Vumatel in the near future. Will I still be able to make use of your services or will I need to use another isp?

I'm afraid we're still making some finalisations to our Fibre offering. For now, our data only works on Telkom fibre.
Shouldn't be much longer now though.

So there is a possibility that you will make use of Vumatel's infrastructure in the future?
