Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Before you introduced this "R1 steal", i upgraded my line from 10mb to 20 mb and the upgrade was successful. We then recieved an e-mail from Gian about the R1 package change. So I though i try things out. I then upgraded to a 20mb business package since I will only be charge R1 and I can downgrade to my normal package before the 23rd of the month. Today I wanted to downgrade to my normal package as the business uncapped is really not making any difference. Clientzone says I can only make 2 package changes in one month. WTF!!! so now I am faced with a possible R2K bill end of the month? I don't want this package and surely I didn't even know that I am going to be locked into this package. Please attend to this and downgrade me to my normal package 50 plus 50 GB.

OR you can just cancel that package and sign up for the 50+50 package at R 1. Your uncapped will cancel at month end and your new package will continue as normal.

Chill. It's all gonna be alright

afrihost uncapped has come to a grinding halt in sandton streams constantly buffering and webpages opening at 56k speed anyone else experiencing this

One fibre line supplies both the Western and Eastern cape?

Well, Afrihost sent an SMS out about IPC issues, so could either be both or the fiber line was between IPC and Afrihost's main network. Wonder if Afriguy will leave a comment with more detail on Monday.

Right..lets see if i can get help here...due emails to support dont work as they have no idiee what going on around them it seem.

I play battlefield 4...ebv server, i tried the test free acc and i ping 44. Cancel my other isp one due they ping 58...

Bought 40gb acc capped from afrihost...but that capped acc also ping around 56 ... but if i log in with free test acc....i get instantly 44, does not matter what time of day, how frequent i log in..it stays 44.

Did a trace route on both...did send support it, it 2 difference routes and clearly can see what hops the ping differ.

Any one else can test this also for me ur side?

Any employee at afrihost who can understand this? (Bradley was most clued up one till now)

Regards

Please send me the details to test on iOS

There is a utility in the App store called Usage Widget. There may be better apps out there but this one does what I need it to do. Once installed, you add it to your Widgets. It has network upload and download performance counters and a real time percentage utilisation graph. Make sure no other devices are connected to your router, download a large App from the app store, swipe down (on iOS 10, you have to swipe down (Notifications) and then swipe from left to right to get to Widgets), go to Usage Widget to see your download rate. Hope this helps.

Dead for me again!, cancellation is in, too many issues for too long, lack of support is a big issue which has not been fixed since joining, under performing versus other providers etc etc.

Youtube will only buiffer at 144p.

OK it seems my latency is fixed. getting 9ms. But now I notice my 4meg line is syncing at 2megs. Anyone else have similar experience?
This is obviously a Telkom issue and not Afrihost, as I dont have a bundled product with Afrihost.

Also, where on the mytelkom page can one view ones current packages? ie phone line product and ADSL line speed? All I can do is "manage my accounts", and that lets me rename my account. effing useless.

Phone Telkom, and tell them to change you back to 4mbps profile.

Bit harsh to criticize. This is the first issue I have had for a long time, otherwise it has been a perfect experience.

When did these cables go down? Because I've been having streaming issues in CT for weeks. You telling me they tried to steal the cables weeks ago now?

Problem still not sorted in the Southern Cape. AH still buffering (F1) and had to resort to Telkom. The cable story seems a good excuse for their poor service. I cancelled Afrihost yesterday. Contract (data) will only expire end of October 2016. At their streaming rate it will take me about till then to use all my data.

Still having the same problem I have been having all month, after 18:00-19:00 maybe at some point I loose all internet access, still connected but nothing goes in or out. At first I ignored it but now it's becoming ridiculous. At first it was late, after 22:00 or so, but it's been starting earlier and earlier.

Have to tether my phone to post this now.

youtube is buffering again like crap since 6pm and browsing speed has slowed down a lot

Yeah honestly since the new cache server implementation youtube has been extremely hit or miss. Things were perfect just a few weeks ago...

I mean is this really acceptable?
