Thanks AfriFella for the speedy response to my PM. Appreciate the info and also explaining things so easy for this old brain to understand :)

That's what I'm here for! :) Thanks for the kudos, hayted.

We definitely do not shape any services on Unshaped Capped. It's the same unshaped product we have always offered. There could be other reasons for services performing poorly. If it's on our side it would be that overall demand is that high, but we don't actively shape any product that is advertised as unshaped.

We should really do some proper troubleshooting to determine the cause here. From the tests you posted, overall throughput is slow. In terms of shaping, speedtests should remain perfect and only certain services would appear slower, so it's definitely not anything to do with shaping.

Well in that case stop over selling your capacity or buy more. I pay for a 20Mbps unshaped capped account and that's what I expect to get. Not the same nonsense speeds people are reporting day after day.

6PM and again speeds are down the crapper.

We have definitely not oversold, in fact I believe we've been carrying additional capacity (at a massive cost to company) to ensure a good experience.

I'm not sure how often shaping on Shaped Capped has been employed, we certainly didn't see much shaping of any sort over December and early Jan. I am pretty sure that our intention is not to have a regularly shaped product. And as I've mentioned before, the way our shaping works is that realtime speeds are untouched, so your speedtests should show full speed at all times regardless.

We should really do more troubleshooting on this before we make the leap to shaping :(

In one post you mention that there is no shaping and that the network must be under severe strain and then in the next you say that you have more than enough capacity to ensure a good experience.

Afriman sorry to break it to you but look at all the posts here, people are not having a good experience on your network. Either it's shaping or you have run out of capacity but saying it's neither isn't going to cut it.

My test with your network vs WA capped proved that there are serious problems at the moment. The least you can do is inform people what the issue is.

If it were just me complaining I would understand that it could possibly be my network, router or exchange that has an issue but there are people from different parts of the country all reporting the same thing day after day. The only response everyone seems to get is "this is not good can we run more tests" or "our network looks fine from our side".

What is the problem?

As mentioned, we're not seeing any general issues on our network at the moment. Are you seeing similar results when you test on a laptop/PC over LAN?

I'm creating an Afrihost account under my own name (moved from company name) and I can't seem to create my free 1GB account with my new fibre line number that starts with a B? The technician that installed it said all Openserve fibre use this new number system so maybe Afrihost has not updated yet?

We've recently had to manually link all fibre line numbers to our 1GB Capped DSL packages. Please drop me a PM with your details and I'll log this with our development team.

You are lying. Simple as that. Your shaping is destroying your reputation

Frequent disconnects could mean that you have a line issue. :( Feel free to PM me your details and I'll take a look at what is up.

Your testing and feedback has definitely not been ignored. Myself and the other Reps on here have been passing on all of your feedback to our NOC Team and Network Engineers as it comes in. I also think that we have been pretty good at reporting back whenever we have info, as well as admitting when we see issues on the network (which have been few and far between of late). I honestly think we would have seen more of a response if there was a general issue on our end, so we'll have to continue troubleshooting with you as long as your problem persists - or even send you through to our Critical Care Team. Either way, we're always happy to help. :)

Hi,

Are there any issues in CPT tonight? Throughput is slow and latency is high.

EDIT: It seems to have self-corrected for now... will keep monitoring.

Same here, ever since this new "Shaped capped" started that would apparently not shape unless extreme network congestion and even then would not shape realtime services such as streaming has come into effect it's a nightly gamble on when it's going to start playing up and start to buffer...last month I could stream 1080p from the moment I pushed play, now I have to let 720p buffer for a while and even then it's got issues throughout whatever I am watching. Always said I would stick with you guys to see what's the worse that could happen but seems it's time to jump ship already in this 1st month of "Shaped capped"
