DSL faults can be super frustrating, so I can understand why anyone can get angry when it takes long to sort out.
Visa vie my line issue ...... ticket no RSZ-799-58215 (and the rant that ensued) ....
Support have now made contact with Telkom detailing the issue .... lets give them a few days and see what transpires.
Thanks for your help.

Is the Afrihost SMTP server on a blacklist somewhere:

I'm looking into this now. Are you using DSL mail or do you have this set up as the SMTP server for one of your hosted domains?
Seems to be the default smtp server setup here and yes they have their own domain email on a few machines.
Can you confirm your current DNS settings?
They are on the default currently. Even with the settings free m the website I still have the problem
So Telkom phoned me again today and said they implemented some new system thing-a-majig that will auto detect your distance from the exchange and this will cause disconnects and packet loss, etc. And due to my distance from the exchange I can do 4Mbps max, reliably.
Although this sounds like utter BS to me, I was too busy at work to fight with them. So I have downgraded my linespeed from 8Mbps to 4Mbps on Clientzone (it has also taken effect already). So I will monitor my latencies and packet loss tonight.
I will be removing testicles from body if this does not work.
Running pingplotter right now, my latency to reddit.com is 350ms (which is 130ms odd more than what it should be)...
I also have packet loss on my first 2 hops after my modem. My latency is about 20ms lower on the first few hops (4-9), but then for some reason I am going via Mumbai and Singapore??

Sounds like you're describing ASSIA which should, on the whole, give you a better experience. Not sure about the Reddit route here, though. How is your local latency?
AH can you change my line sync to VDSL or do I have to go through Telkom? My line is with you.
If your DSL Line is with us, we can ask that the modulation be updated to VDSL for you, drop me a PM and I'll ask our Telkom Service Manager to get that done for you.
