We don't throttle international bandwidth or local bandwidth, but if contention is high, we institute regular shaping to limit BitTorrent, etc and bring demand back in line. We've rarely seen occasions where we've had to shape at maximum to achieve this with the additional capacity we have at the moment.

However, remember that international demand could also be a factor in us implementing shaping, and with WACS and SEACOM down, there is high demand for international. But we won't throttle bandwidth by policy and as far as I can see (right now) our international links are doing well.
WACS and Seacom are both up and at full capacity, and have been since the same day they went down. There are no latent issues on either of the cables since then...

You did read the last part of the last sentence, right?

Yes, and the previous post stating that Afriman was under the impression that WACS and Seacom were still down, so I was quite sure I wasn't reading the wrong side of the ambiguity there.

@Afriman it's a pleasure...

Yes, somehow the news didn't get to me. Possibly my couch was blocking WiFi signal :)

EDIT: Something very wrong, KZN is dead slow, latency high and packet loss is starting to rise.
It's not just me, friends in PMB, DBN and myself in Richmond all seeing the same thing.

We just found out that there may be an issue on the fibre link between Durban and Johannesburg, Telkom is investigating, the moment I have more info I'll let you guys know.
