Afrihost New Network Feedback

I have started using Unotelly DNS since Netflix launched in SA. While Netflix stream perfectly without issues, other apps like ShowMax and YouTube all buffers. Even Facebook on the Samsung phone was buffering yesterday. After I switched to "get dns dynamical from ISP" on the NETGEAR router, everything worked perfect, but this means that I am only confined to NETFLIX's SA version. I am using Unotelly DNS on the router and not on the laptop ( as I don't like to watch movies on the laptop) and if I use the DNS on the TV (LG WebOS smart) Netflix app does not work. This is not a complaint, just seeking some tips as how can I resolve the issue as this means that everytime I need to watch NETFLIX USA I must use Unotelly DNS and for the rest of other things I must switch back to "automatic" DNS.

Errrr, maybe start a netflix thread and ask the question there. Not sure why you use Unotelly for Netflix SA. You shouldn't need to hide your location if you are based in SA.

Think he means, that for some reason his now only able to use the SA version, and not the US one which he prefers. But agree, not sure its the right thread for that

Hmmmm! strange. I guess even if it was your co-worker asking the same question, instead of answering you would simply tell them to start a thread somewhere as asking the question at work is not the right place? Be that as it may, ignore the post as I was aware that the question was asked in the Afrihost forum, being a client of afrihost thought I could get some few pointers without having to clutter the forum and deviate from the topics at hand. That being said, I shall proceed and engage the relevant forums.

You are always more than welcome to post on this thread if you have any questions about your internet connection. :)

I didn't post an answer to your question as the whole VPN / DNS Spoofing thing can get a bit tricky at times especially with Netflix starting to clamp down on Users accessing the service from other geographical locations. :)

Thanks @AfriGenie!! I think the cracks are showing now.

Keep your pants on big boy. I wasn't insulting or rude. If you ask OT questions and derail a thread some people get really salty. Almost like you are now.

BTW - not that your analogy makes any sense, but if a co-worker asks me how to sort out his Netflix I would probably tell him to come to MYBB and start a thread in stead of derailing someone elses.

It appears you just had a last word! or am I wrong?

Lol, just leave it. Your netflix issue doesn't directly correlate to Afrihost and the Afrihost rep can't really help you as it isn't totally legal to use UnoTelly in order to avoid Geo blocks.
I am sure there are others on the forum who can help you out though if you opened a thread in the relevant subforum.

And Twitch dies...yay afrihost...

Would you mind linking your stream? See if I have the same issue.

I started using Afrihost this month and most things seem fine. The problem that I have is I'm sure my after hours data is coming from my normal cap. Not all of my scheduled downloads use the cap but especially when I use Sabnzbd the downloads don't usually finish and they seem to use of my normal cap and reflect on after hour usage as well. I've checked a few times and before I go sleep it shows a certain amount and the next morning there is data used and like I said it's usually only with downloading Nzbs.

And today it's even worse! from 10Mbps to 3Mbps

And surfing is a nightmare, it's taking 30-60 seconds just to load mybroadband.

ASSIA can go jump, it's just making my life worse. Going to end up scrapping this DSL if this nonsense continues.

This is definitely not looking great. Let's check if your sync rate is actually dropping though. Please PM me :(

Hey guys, let's all try to play nice in the thread, maybe this discussion should be taken offline into PM.

/ignoring ignoramus.

Afriman - I have some good news and bad news.

Good news - they are rolling out fibre about 2km's from my house and (added bonus) I know the CEO of company that is doing the rollout personally. Spoke to them about my lousy connection and I am meeting them this afternoon at the estate they are rolling out at to check if we can put together some kind of a solution (point to point, or using DFA/Ekhuruleni backhaul) to get something going at my house.

Bad news - if this succeeds I will probably cancel my service with you guys... :( Will keep my mobile data though.
